1 ver mapa ¶ No ano sétimo de Jeú começou a reinar Joás, e quarenta anos reinou em Jerusalém; e era o nome de sua mãe Zíbia, de Berseba. In the seventh year of Jehu began Jehoash to reign; and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Zibiah of Beer-sheba.
2 E fez Joás o que era reto aos olhos do SENHOR todos os dias em que o sacerdote Joiada o dirigia. And Jehoash did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.
3 Tão-somente os altos não foram tirados; porque ainda o povo sacrificava e queimava incenso nos altos. Howbeit the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.
4 ¶ E disse Joás aos sacerdotes: Todo o dinheiro das coisas santas que se trouxer à casa do SENHOR, a saber, o dinheiro daquele que passa o arrolamento, o dinheiro de cada uma das pessoas, segundo a sua avaliação, e todo o dinheiro que trouxer cada um voluntariamente para a casa do SENHOR, And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the hallowed things that is brought into the house of Jehovah, in current money, the money of the persons for whom each man is rated, and all the money that it cometh into any man's heart to bring into the house of Jehovah,
5 Os sacerdotes o recebam, cada um dos seus conhecidos; e eles mesmos reparem as fendas da casa, toda a fenda que se achar nela. let the priests take it to them, every man from his acquaintance; and they shall repair the breaches of the house, wheresoever any breach shall be found.
6 Sucedeu, porém, que, no ano vinte e três do rei Joás, os sacerdotes ainda não tinham reparado as fendas da casa. But it was so, that in the three and twentieth year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house.
7 Então o rei Joás chamou o sacerdote Joiada e os mais sacerdotes, e lhes disse: Por que não reparais as fendas da casa? Agora, pois, não tomeis mais dinheiro de vossos conhecidos, mas entregai-o para o reparo das fendas da casa. Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and for the [other] priests, and said unto them, Why repair ye not the breaches of the house? now therefore take no [more] money from your acquaintance, but deliver it for the breaches of the house.
8 E consentiram os sacerdotes em não tomarem mais dinheiro do povo, e em não repararem as fendas da casa. And the priests consented that they should take no [more] money from the people, neither repair the breaches of the house.
9 Porém o sacerdote Joiada tomou um cofre e fez um buraco na tampa; e a pôs ao pé do altar, à mão direita dos que entravam na casa do SENHOR; e os sacerdotes que guardavam a entrada da porta punham ali todo o dinheiro que se trazia à casa do SENHOR. But Jehoiada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one cometh into the house of Jehovah: and the priests that kept the threshold put therein all the money that was brought into the house of Jehovah.
10 Sucedeu que, vendo eles que já havia muito dinheiro no cofre, o escrivão do rei subia com o sumo sacerdote, e contavam e ensacavam o dinheiro que se achava na casa do SENHOR. And it was so, when they saw that there was much money in the chest, that the king's scribe and the high priest came up, and they put up in bags and counted the money that was found in the house of Jehovah.
11 E o dinheiro, depois de pesado, davam nas mãos dos que faziam a obra, que tinham a seu cargo a casa do SENHOR e eles o distribuíam aos carpinteiros e aos edificadores que reparavam a casa do SENHOR. And they gave the money that was weighed out into the hands of them that did the work, that had the oversight of the house of Jehovah: and they paid it out to the carpenters and the builders, that wrought upon the house of Jehovah,
12 Como também aos pedreiros e aos cabouqueiros; e para se comprar madeira e pedras de cantaria para repararem as fendas da casa do SENHOR, e para tudo quanto era necessário para reparar a casa. and to the masons and the hewers of stone, and for buying timber and hewn stone to repair the breaches of the house of Jehovah, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.
13 Todavia, do dinheiro que se trazia à casa do SENHOR não se faziam nem taças de prata, nem garfos, nem bacias, nem trombetas, nem vaso algum de ouro ou vaso de prata para a casa do SENHOR. But there were not made for the house of Jehovah cups of silver, snuffers, basins, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into the house of Jehovah;
14 Porque o davam aos que faziam a obra, e reparavam com ele a casa do SENHOR. for they gave that to them that did the work, and repaired therewith the house of Jehovah.
15 Também não pediam contas aos homens em cujas mãos entregavam aquele dinheiro, para o dar aos que faziam a obra, porque procediam com fidelidade. Moreover they reckoned not with the men, into whose hand they delivered the money to give to them that did the work; for they dealt faithfully.
16 Mas o dinheiro do sacrifício por delitos, e o dinheiro por sacrifício de pecados, não se trazia à casa do SENHOR; porque era para os sacerdotes. The money for the trespass-offerings, and the money for the sin-offerings, was not brought into the house of Jehovah: it was the priests'.
17 ver mapa ¶ Então subiu Hazael, rei da Síria, e pelejou contra Gate, e a tomou; depois Hazael resolveu marchar contra Jerusalém. Then Hazael king of Syria went up, and fought against Gath, and took it; and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.
18 ver mapa Porém Joás, rei de Judá, tomou todas as coisas santas que Jeosafá, Jorão e Acazias, seus pais, reis de Judá, consagraram, como também todo o ouro que se achou nos tesouros da casa do SENHOR e na casa do rei e o mandou a Hazael, rei da Síria; e então se desviou de Jerusalém. And Jehoash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat and Jehoram and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and of the king's house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.
19 Ora, o mais dos atos de Joás, e tudo quanto fez, porventura não está escrito no livro das crônicas dos reis de Judá? Now the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
20 ver mapa E levantaram-se os servos de Joás, e conspiraram contra ele ferindo-o na casa de Milo, no caminho que desce para Sila. And his servants arose, and made a conspiracy, and smote Joash at the house of Millo, [on the way] that goeth down to Silla.
21 Porque Jozacar, filho de Simeate, e Jozabade, filho de Somer, seus servos, o feriram, e morreu, e o sepultaram com seus pais na cidade de Davi. E Amazias, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar. For Jozacar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, smote him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amaziah his son reigned in his stead.
