Efésios 5

1 ¶ Sede, pois, imitadores de Deus, como filhos amados; Be ye therefore imitators of God, as beloved children;
2 E andai em amor, como também Cristo vos amou, e se entregou a si mesmo por nós, em oferta e sacrifício a Deus, em cheiro suave. and walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for an odor of a sweet smell.
3 ¶ Mas a prostituição, e toda a impureza ou avareza, nem ainda se nomeie entre vós, como convém a santos; But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as becometh saints;
4 Nem torpezas, nem parvoíces, nem chocarrices, que não convêm; mas antes, ações de graças. nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, or jesting, which are not befitting: but rather giving of thanks.
5 Porque bem sabeis isto: que nenhum devasso, ou impuro, ou avarento, o qual é idólatra, tem herança no reino de Cristo e de Deus. For this ye know of a surety, that no fornicator, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
6 Ninguém vos engane com palavras vãs; porque por estas coisas vem a ira de Deus sobre os filhos da desobediência. Let no man deceive you with empty words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the sons of disobedience.
7 Portanto, não sejais seus companheiros. Be not ye therefore partakers with them;
8 Porque noutro tempo éreis trevas, mas agora sois luz no Senhor; andai como filhos da luz For ye were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord: walk as children of light
9 (Porque o fruto do Espírito está em toda a bondade, e justiça e verdade); (for the fruit of the light is in all goodness and righteousness and truth),
10 Aprovando o que é agradável ao Senhor. proving what is well-pleasing unto the Lord;
11 E não comuniqueis com as obras infrutuosas das trevas, mas antes condenai-as. and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them;
12 Porque o que eles fazem em oculto até dizê-lo é torpe. for the things which are done by them in secret it is a shame even to speak of.
13 Mas todas estas coisas se manifestam, sendo condenadas pela luz, porque a luz tudo manifesta. But all things when they are reproved are made manifest by the light: for everything that is made manifest is light.
14 Por isso diz: Desperta, tu que dormes, e levanta-te dentre os mortos, e Cristo te esclarecerá. Wherefore [he] saith, Awake, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall shine upon thee.
15 Portanto, vede prudentemente como andais, não como néscios, mas como sábios, Look therefore carefully how ye walk, not as unwise, but as wise;
16 Remindo o tempo; porquanto os dias são maus. redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Por isso não sejais insensatos, mas entendei qual seja a vontade do Senhor. Wherefore be ye not foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
18 E não vos embriagueis com vinho, em que há contenda, mas enchei-vos do Espírito; And be not drunken with wine, wherein is riot, but be filled with the Spirit;
19 Falando entre vós em salmos, e hinos, e cânticos espirituais; cantando e salmodiando ao Senhor no vosso coração; speaking one to another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;
20 Dando sempre graças por tudo a nosso Deus e Pai, em nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo; giving thanks always for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;
21 ¶ Sujeitando-vos uns aos outros no temor de Deus. subjecting yourselves one to another in the fear of Christ.
22 Vós, mulheres, sujeitai-vos a vossos maridos, como ao Senhor; Wives, [be in subjection] unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
23 Porque o marido é a cabeça da mulher, como também Cristo é a cabeça da igreja, sendo ele próprio o salvador do corpo. For the husband is the head of the wife, and Christ also is the head of the church, [being] himself the saviour of the body.
24 De sorte que, assim como a igreja está sujeita a Cristo, assim também as mulheres sejam em tudo sujeitas a seus maridos. But as the church is subject to Christ, so [let] the wives also [be] to their husbands in everything.
25 Vós, maridos, amai vossas mulheres, como também Cristo amou a igreja, e a si mesmo se entregou por ela, Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it;
26 Para a santificar, purificando-a com a lavagem da água, pela palavra, that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,
27 Para a apresentar a si mesmo igreja gloriosa, sem mácula, nem ruga, nem coisa semelhante, mas santa e irrepreensível. that he might present the church to himself a glorious [church], not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28 Assim devem os maridos amar as suas próprias mulheres, como a seus próprios corpos. Quem ama a sua mulher, ama-se a si mesmo. Even so ought husbands also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his own wife loveth himself:
29 Porque nunca ninguém odiou a sua própria carne; antes a alimenta e sustenta, como também o Senhor à igreja; for no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as Christ also the church;
30 Porque somos membros do seu corpo, da sua carne, e dos seus ossos. because we are members of his body.
31 Por isso deixará o homem seu pai e sua mãe, e se unirá a sua mulher; e serão dois numa carne. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh.
32 Grande é este mistério; digo-o, porém, a respeito de Cristo e da igreja. This mystery is great: but I speak in regard of Christ and of the church.
33 Assim também vós, cada um em particular, ame a sua própria mulher como a si mesmo, e a mulher reverencie o marido. Nevertheless do ye also severally love each one his own wife even as himself; and [let] the wife [see] that she fear her husband.
