1 ver mapa ¶ E depois de Abimeleque, se levantou, para livrar a Israel, Tola, filho de Puá, filho de Dodo, homem de Issacar; e habitava em Samir, na montanha de Efraim. And after Abimelech there arose to save Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in the hill-country of Ephraim.
2 ver mapa E julgou a Israel vinte e três anos; e morreu, e foi sepultado em Samir. And he judged Israel twenty and three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir.
3 E depois dele se levantou Jair, gileadita, e julgou a Israel vinte e dois anos. And after him arose Jair, the Gileadite; and he judged Israel twenty and two years.
4 ver mapa E tinha este trinta filhos, que cavalgavam sobre trinta jumentos; e tinham trinta cidades, a que chamaram Havote-Jair, até ao dia de hoje; as quais estão na terra de Gileade. And he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havvoth-jair unto this day, which are in the land of Gilead.
5 ver mapa E morreu Jair, e foi sepultado em Camom. And Jair died, and was buried in Kamon.
6 ver mapa ¶ Então tornaram os filhos de Israel a fazer o que era mau aos olhos do SENHOR, e serviram aos baalins, e a Astarote, e aos deuses da Síria, e aos deuses de Sidom, e aos deuses de Moabe, e aos deuses dos filhos de Amom, e aos deuses dos filisteus; e deixaram ao SENHOR, e não o serviram. And the children of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and served the Baalim, and the Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Sidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; and they forsook Jehovah, and served him not.
7 E a ira do SENHOR se acendeu contra Israel; e vendeu-os nas mãos dos filisteus, e nas mãos dos filhos de Amom. And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the children of Ammon.
8 ver mapa E naquele mesmo ano oprimiram e vexaram aos filhos de Israel; dezoito anos oprimiram a todos os filhos de Israel que estavam além do Jordão, na terra dos amorreus, que está em Gileade. And they vexed and oppressed the children of Israel that year: eighteen years [oppressed they] all the children of Israel that were beyond the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.
9 ver mapa Até os filhos de Amom passaram o Jordão, para pelejar também contra Judá, e contra Benjamim, e contra a casa de Efraim; de modo que Israel ficou muito angustiado. And the children of Ammon passed over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was sore distressed.
10 ¶ Então os filhos de Israel clamaram ao SENHOR, dizendo: Contra ti havemos pecado, visto que deixamos a nosso Deus, e servimos aos baalins. And the children of Israel cried unto Jehovah, saying, We have sinned against thee, even because we have forsaken our God, and have served the Baalim.
11 Porém o SENHOR disse aos filhos de Israel: Porventura dos egípcios, e dos amorreus, e dos filhos de Amom, e dos filisteus, And Jehovah said unto the children of Israel, [Did] not [I save you] from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?
12 E dos sidônios, e dos amalequitas, e dos maonitas, que vos oprimiam, quando a mim clamastes, não vos livrei das suas mãos? The Sidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppress you; and ye cried unto me, and I saved you out of their hand.
13 Contudo vós me deixastes a mim, e servistes a outros deuses; pelo que não vos livrarei mais. Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will save you no more.
14 Ide, e clamai aos deuses que escolhestes; que eles vos livrem no tempo do vosso aperto. Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them save you in the time of your distress.
15 Mas os filhos de Israel disseram ao SENHOR: Pecamos; faze-nos conforme a tudo quanto te parecer bem aos teus olhos; tão-somente te rogamos que nos livres nesta vez. And the children of Israel said unto Jehovah, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; only deliver us, we pray thee, this day.
16 E tiraram os deuses alheios do meio de si, e serviram ao SENHOR; então se angustiou a sua alma por causa da desgraça de Israel. And they put away the foreign gods from among them, and served Jehovah; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
17 ver mapa E os filhos de Amom se reuniram e se acamparam em Gileade; e também os de Israel se congregaram, e se acamparam em Mizpá. Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. And the children of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpah.
18 ver mapa Então o povo e os príncipes de Gileade disseram uns aos outros: Quem será o homem que começará a pelejar contra os filhos de Amom? Ele será por cabeça de todos os moradores de Gileade. And the people, the princes of Gilead, said one to another, What man is he that will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.
