| 1 | ¶ Então Jesus, tomando a palavra, tornou a falar-lhes em parábolas, dizendo: | And Jesus answered and spake again in parables unto them, saying, |
| 2 | O reino dos céus é semelhante a um certo rei que celebrou as bodas de seu filho; | The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son, |
| 3 | E enviou os seus servos a chamar os convidados para as bodas, e estes não quiseram vir. | and sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the marriage feast: and they would not come. |
| 4 | Depois, enviou outros servos, dizendo: Dizei aos convidados: Eis que tenho o meu jantar preparado, os meus bois e cevados já mortos, e tudo já pronto; vinde às bodas. | Again he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them that are bidden, Behold, I have made ready my dinner; my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come to the marriage feast. |
| 5 | Eles, porém, não fazendo caso, foram, um para o seu campo, outro para o seu tráfico; | But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise; |
| 6 | E os outros, apoderando-se dos servos, os ultrajaram e mataram. | and the rest laid hold on his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them. |
| 7 | E o rei, tendo notícia disto, encolerizou-se e, enviando os seus exércitos, destruiu aqueles homicidas, e incendiou a sua cidade. | But the king was wroth; and he sent his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned their city. |
| 8 | Então diz aos servos: As bodas, na verdade, estão preparadas, mas os convidados não eram dignos. | Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they that were bidden were not worthy. |
| 9 | Ide, pois, às saídas dos caminhos, e convidai para as bodas a todos os que encontrardes. | Go ye therefore unto the partings of the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage feast. |
| 10 | E os servos, saindo pelos caminhos, ajuntaram todos quantos encontraram, tanto maus como bons; e a festa nupcial foi cheia de convidados. | And those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was filled with guests. |
| 11 | E o rei, entrando para ver os convidados, viu ali um homem que não estava trajado com veste de núpcias. | But when the king came in to behold the guests, he saw there a man who had not on a wedding-garment: |
| 12 | E disse-lhe: Amigo, como entraste aqui, não tendo veste nupcial? E ele emudeceu. | and he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding-garment? And he was speechless. |
| 13 | Disse, então, o rei aos servos: Amarrai-o de pés e mãos, levai-o, e lançai-o nas trevas exteriores; ali haverá pranto e ranger de dentes. | Then the king said to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and cast him out into the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. |
| 14 | Porque muitos são chamados, mas poucos escolhidos. | For many are called, but few chosen. |
| 15 | E enviaram-lhe os seus discípulos, com os herodianos, dizendo: Mestre, bem sabemos que és verdadeiro, e ensinas o caminho de Deus segundo a verdade, e de ninguém se te dá, porque não olhas a aparência dos homens. | Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might ensnare him in [his] talk. |
| 16 | Dize-nos, pois, que te parece? É lícito pagar o tributo a César, ou não? | And they send to him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, and carest not for any one: for thou regardest not the person of men. |
| 17 | Jesus, porém, conhecendo a sua malícia, disse: Por que me experimentais, hipócritas? | Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? |
| 18 | Mostrai-me a moeda do tributo. E eles lhe apresentaram um dinheiro. | But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why make ye trial of me, ye hypocrites? |
| 19 | E ele diz-lhes: De quem é esta efígie e esta inscrição? | Show me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a denarius. |
| 20 | Dizem-lhe eles: De César. Então ele lhes disse: Dai pois a César o que é de César, e a Deus o que é de Deus. | And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? |
| 21 | E eles, ouvindo isto, maravilharam-se, e, deixando-o, se retiraram. | They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's. |
| 22 | Dizendo: Mestre, Moisés disse: Se morrer alguém, não tendo filhos, casará o seu irmão com a mulher dele, e suscitará descendência a seu irmão. | And when they heard it, they marvelled, and left him, and went away. |
| 23 | Ora, houve entre nós sete irmãos; e o primeiro, tendo casado, morreu e, não tendo descendência, deixou sua mulher a seu irmão. | On that day there came to him Sadducees, they that say that there is no resurrection: and they asked him, |
| 24 | Da mesma sorte o segundo, e o terceiro, até ao sétimo; | saying, Teacher, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. |
| 25 | Por fim, depois de todos, morreu também a mulher. | Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first married and deceased, and having no seed left his wife unto his brother; |
| 26 | Portanto, na ressurreição, de qual dos sete será a mulher, visto que todos a possuíram? | in like manner the second also, and the third, unto the seventh. |
| 27 | Jesus, porém, respondendo, disse-lhes: Errais, não conhecendo as Escrituras, nem o poder de Deus. | And after them all, the woman died. |
| 28 | Porque na ressurreição nem casam nem são dados em casamento; mas serão como os anjos de Deus no céu. | In the resurrection therefore whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her. |
| 29 | E, acerca da ressurreição dos mortos, não tendes lido o que Deus vos declarou, dizendo: | But Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. |
| 30 | Eu sou o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaque, e o Deus de Jacó? Ora, Deus não é Deus dos mortos, mas dos vivos. | For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as angels in heaven. |
| 31 | E, as turbas, ouvindo isto, ficaram maravilhadas da sua doutrina. | But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, |
| 32 | ¶ E os fariseus, ouvindo que ele fizera emudecer os saduceus, reuniram-se no mesmo lugar. | I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not [the God] of the dead, but of the living. |
| 33 | E um deles, doutor da lei, interrogou-o para o experimentar, dizendo: | And when the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching. |
| 34 | Mestre, qual é o grande mandamento na lei? | But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, gathered themselves together. |
| 35 | E Jesus disse-lhe: Amarás o Senhor teu Deus de todo o teu coração, e de toda a tua alma, e de todo o teu pensamento. | And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, trying him: |
| 36 | Este é o primeiro e grande mandamento. | Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law? |
| 37 | E o segundo, semelhante a este, é: Amarás o teu próximo como a ti mesmo. | And he said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. |
| 38 | Destes dois mandamentos dependem toda a lei e os profetas. | This is the great and first commandment. |
| 39 | ¶ E, estando reunidos os fariseus, interrogou-os Jesus, | And a second like [unto it] is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. |
| 40 | Dizendo: Que pensais vós do Cristo? De quem é filho? Eles disseram-lhe: De Davi. | On these two commandments the whole law hangeth, and the prophets. |
| 41 | Disse-lhes ele: Como é então que Davi, em espírito, lhe chama Senhor, dizendo: | Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question, |
| 42 | Disse o Senhor ao meu Senhor: Assenta-te à minha direita, Até que eu ponha os teus inimigos por escabelo de teus pés? | saying, What think ye of the Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, [The son] of David. |
| 43 | Se Davi, pois, lhe chama Senhor, como é seu filho? | He saith unto them, How then doth David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying, |
| 44 | E ninguém podia responder-lhe uma palavra; nem desde aquele dia ousou mais alguém interrogá-lo. | The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Till I put thine enemies underneath thy feet? |
| 45 | If David then calleth him Lord, how is he his son? | |
| 46 | And no one was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions. |
