Neemias 1

1 mapa ¶ As palavras de Neemias, filho de Hacalias. E sucedeu no mês de Quisleu, no ano vigésimo, estando eu em Susã, a fortaleza, The words of Nehemiah the son of Hacaliah. Now it came to pass in the month Chislev, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace,
2 mapa Que veio Hanani, um de meus irmãos, ele e alguns de Judá; e perguntei-lhes pelos judeus que escaparam, e que restaram do cativeiro, e acerca de Jerusalém. that Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and certain men out of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, that were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.
3 mapa E disseram-me: Os restantes, que ficaram do cativeiro, lá na província estão em grande miséria e desprezo; e o muro de Jerusalém fendido e as suas portas queimadas a fogo. And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.
4 E sucedeu que, ouvindo eu estas palavras, assentei-me e chorei, e lamentei por alguns dias; e estive jejuando e orando perante o Deus dos céus. And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days; and I fasted and prayed before the God of heaven,
5 ¶ E disse: Ah! SENHOR Deus dos céus, Deus grande e terrível! Que guarda a aliança e a benignidade para com aqueles que o amam e guardam os seus mandamentos; and said, I beseech thee, O Jehovah, the God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and lovingkindness with them that love him and keep his commandments:
6 Estejam, pois, atentos os teus ouvidos e os teus olhos abertos, para ouvires a oração do teu servo, que eu hoje faço perante ti, dia e noite, pelos filhos de Israel, teus servos; e faço confissão pelos pecados dos filhos de Israel, que temos cometido contra ti; também eu e a casa de meu pai temos pecado. Let thine ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hearken unto the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee at this time, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants while I confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee. Yea, I and my father's house have sinned:
7 De todo nos corrompemos contra ti, e não guardamos os mandamentos, nem os estatutos, nem os juízos, que ordenaste a Moisés, teu servo. we have dealt very corruptly against thee, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the ordinances, which thou commandedst thy servant Moses.
8 Lembra-te, pois, da palavra que ordenaste a Moisés, teu servo, dizendo: Vós transgredireis, e eu vos espalharei entre os povos. Remember, I beseech thee, the word that thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, If ye trespass, I will scatter you abroad among the peoples:
9 E vós vos convertereis a mim, e guardareis os meus mandamentos, e os cumprireis; então, ainda que os vossos rejeitados estejam na extremidade do céu, de lá os ajuntarei e os trarei ao lugar que tenho escolhido para ali fazer habitar o meu nome. but if ye return unto me, and keep my commandments and do them, though your outcasts were in the uttermost part of the heavens, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen, to cause my name to dwell there.
10 Eles são teus servos e o teu povo que resgataste com a tua grande força e com a tua forte mão. Now these are thy servants and thy people, whom thou hast redeemed by thy great power, and by thy strong hand.
11 Ah! Senhor, estejam, pois, atentos os teus ouvidos à oração do teu servo, e à oração dos teus servos que desejam temer o teu nome; e faze prosperar hoje o teu servo, e dá-lhe graça perante este homem. Então era eu copeiro do rei. O Lord, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who delight to fear thy name; and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. Now I was cupbearer to the king.
