| 1 | ¶ Tu, porém, fala o que convém à sã doutrina. | But speak thou the things which befit the sound doctrine: |
| 2 | Os velhos, que sejam sóbrios, graves, prudentes, sãos na fé, no amor, e na paciência; | that aged men be temperate, grave, sober-minded, sound in faith, in love, in patience: |
| 3 | As mulheres idosas, semelhantemente, que sejam sérias no seu viver, como convém a santas, não caluniadoras, não dadas a muito vinho, mestras no bem; | that aged women likewise be reverent in demeanor, not slanderers nor enslaved to much wine, teachers of that which is good; |
| 4 | Para que ensinem as mulheres novas a serem prudentes, a amarem seus maridos, a amarem seus filhos, | that they may train the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, |
| 5 | A serem moderadas, castas, boas donas de casa, sujeitas a seus maridos, a fim de que a palavra de Deus não seja blasfemada. | [to be] sober-minded, chaste, workers at home, kind, being in subjection to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed: |
| 6 | Exorta semelhantemente os jovens a que sejam moderados. | the younger men likewise exhort to be sober-minded: |
| 7 | Em tudo te dá por exemplo de boas obras; na doutrina mostra incorrupção, gravidade, sinceridade, | in all things showing thyself an ensample of good works; in thy doctrine [showing] uncorruptness, gravity, |
| 8 | Linguagem sã e irrepreensível, para que o adversário se envergonhe, não tendo nenhum mal que dizer de nós. | sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of us. |
| 9 | Exorta os servos a que se sujeitem a seus senhores, e em tudo agradem, não contradizendo, | [Exhort] servants to be in subjection to their own masters, [and] to be well-pleasing [to them] in all things; not gainsaying; |
| 10 | Não defraudando, antes mostrando toda a boa lealdade, para que em tudo sejam ornamento da doutrina de Deus, nosso Salvador. | not purloining, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. |
| 11 | ¶ Porque a graça de Deus se há manifestado, trazendo salvação a todos os homens, | For the grace of God hath appeared, bringing salvation to all men, |
| 12 | Ensinando-nos que, renunciando à impiedade e às concupiscências mundanas, vivamos neste presente século sóbria, e justa, e piamente, | instructing us, to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present world; |
| 13 | Aguardando a bem-aventurada esperança e o aparecimento da glória do grande Deus e nosso Salvador Jesus Cristo; | looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; |
| 14 | O qual se deu a si mesmo por nós para nos remir de toda a iniqüidade, e purificar para si um povo seu especial, zeloso de boas obras. | who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a people for his own possession, zealous of good works. |
| 15 | ¶ Fala disto, e exorta e repreende com toda a autoridade. Ninguém te despreze. | These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no man despise thee. |
