| 2 | E à nossa amada Afia, e a Arquipo, nosso camarada, e à igreja que está em tua casa: | And to Apphia, our sister, and to Archippus, our brother in God's army, and to the church in your house: |
| 3 | Graça a vós e paz da parte de Deus nosso Pai, e do Senhor Jesus Cristo. | Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. |
| 4 | Graças dou ao meu Deus, lembrando-me sempre de ti nas minhas orações; | I give praise to God at all times and make prayer for you, |
| 5 | Ouvindo do teu amor e da fé que tens para com o Senhor Jesus Cristo, e para com todos os santos; | Hearing of the love and the faith which you have to the Lord Jesus and to all the saints; |
| 6 | Para que a comunicação da tua fé seja eficaz no conhecimento de todo o bem que em vós há por Cristo Jesus. | That the faith which you have in common with them may be working with power, in the knowledge of every good thing in you, for Christ. |
| 7 | Tive grande gozo e consolação do teu amor, porque por ti, ó irmão, as entranhas dos santos foram recreadas. | For I had great joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been made strong again through you, brother. |
| 8 | ¶ Por isso, ainda que tenha em Cristo grande confiança para te mandar o que te convém, | And so, though I might, in the name of Christ, give you orders to do what is right, |
| 9 | Todavia peço-te antes por amor, sendo eu tal como sou, Paulo o velho, e também agora prisioneiro de Jesus Cristo. | Still, because of love, in place of an order, I make a request to you, I, Paul, an old man and now a prisoner of Christ Jesus: |
| 10 | Peço-te por meu filho Onésimo, que gerei nas minhas prisões; | My request is for my child Onesimus, the child of my chains, |
| 11 | O qual noutro tempo te foi inútil, mas agora a ti e a mim muito útil; eu to tornei a enviar. | Who in the past was of no profit to you, but now is of profit to you and to me: |
| 12 | E tu torna a recebê-lo como às minhas entranhas. | Whom I have sent back to you, him who is my very heart: |
| 13 | Eu bem o quisera conservar comigo, para que por ti me servisse nas prisões do evangelho; | Though my desire was to keep him with me, to be my servant in the chains of the good news, in your place: |
| 14 | Mas nada quis fazer sem o teu parecer, para que o teu benefício não fosse como por força, mas, voluntário. | But without your approval I would do nothing; so that your good works might not be forced, but done freely from your heart. |
| 15 | Porque bem pode ser que ele se tenha separado de ti por algum tempo, para que o retivesses para sempre, | For it is possible that for this reason he was parted from you for a time, so that you might have him for ever; |
| 16 | Não já como servo, antes, mais do que servo, como irmão amado, particularmente de mim, e quanto mais de ti, assim na carne como no Senhor? | No longer as a servant, but more than a servant, a brother, very dear to me specially, but much more to you, in the flesh as well as in the Lord. |
| 17 | Assim, pois, se me tens por companheiro, recebe-o como a mim mesmo. | If then you take me to be your friend and brother, take him in as myself. |
| 18 | E, se te fez algum dano, ou te deve alguma coisa, põe isso à minha conta. | If he has done you any wrong or is in debt to you for anything, put it to my account. |
| 19 | Eu, Paulo, de minha própria mão o escrevi; eu o pagarei, para te não dizer que ainda mesmo a ti próprio a mim te deves. | I, Paul, writing this myself, say, I will make payment to you: and I do not say to you that you are in debt to me even for your life. |
| 20 | Sim, irmão, eu me regozijarei de ti no Senhor; recreia as minhas entranhas no Senhor. | So brother, let me have joy of you in the Lord: give new life to my heart in Christ. |
| 21 | Escrevi-te confiado na tua obediência, sabendo que ainda farás mais do que digo. | Being certain that you will do my desire, I am writing to you, in the knowledge that you will do even more than I say. |
| 22 | E juntamente prepara-me também pousada, porque espero que pelas vossas orações vos hei de ser concedido. | And make a room ready for me; for I am hoping that through your prayers I will be given to you. |
| 23 | Saúdam-te Epafras, meu companheiro de prisão por Cristo Jesus, | Epaphras, my brother-prisoner in Christ Jesus, sends you his love; |
| 24 | Marcos, Aristarco, Demas e Lucas, meus cooperadores. | And so do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my brother-workers. |
| 25 | A graça de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo seja com o vosso espírito. Amém. | The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. So be it. |
