Provérbios 4

1 Höret, meine Kinder, die Zucht eures Vaters; merket auf, daß ihr lernt und klug werdet! Hear, [my] sons, the instruction of a father, And attend to know understanding:
2 Denn ich gebe euch eine gute Lehre; verlaßt mein Gesetz nicht. For I give you good doctrine; Forsake ye not my law.
3 Denn ich war meines Vaters Sohn, ein zarter und ein einziger vor meiner Mutter. For I was a son unto my father, Tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
4 Und er lehrte mich und sprach: Laß dein Herz meine Worte aufnehmen; halte meine Gebote, so wirst du leben. And he taught me, and said unto me: Let thy heart retain my words; Keep my commandments, and live;
5 Nimm an Weisheit, nimm an Verstand; vergiß nicht und weiche nicht von der Rede meines Mundes. Get wisdom, get understanding; Forget not, neither decline from the words of my mouth;
6 Verlaß sie nicht, so wird sie dich bewahren; liebe sie, so wird sie dich behüten. Forsake her not, and she will preserve thee; Love her, and she will keep thee.
7 Denn der Weisheit Anfang ist, wenn man sie gerne hört und die Klugheit lieber hat als alle Güter. Wisdom [is] the principal thing; [therefore] get wisdom; Yea, with all thy getting get understanding.
8 Achte sie hoch, so wird sie dich erhöhen, und wird dich zu Ehren bringen, wo du sie herzest. Exalt her, and she will promote thee; She will bring thee to honor, when thou dost embrace her.
9 Sie wird dein Haupt schön schmücken und wird dich zieren mit einer prächtigen Krone. She will give to thy head a chaplet of grace; A crown of beauty will she deliver to thee.
10 So höre, mein Kind, und nimm an meine Rede, so werden deiner Jahre viel werden. Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; And the years of thy life shall be many.
11 Ich will dich den Weg der Weisheit führen; ich will dich auf rechter Bahn leiten, I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in paths of uprightness.
12 daß, wenn du gehst, dein Gang dir nicht sauer werde, und wenn du läufst, daß du nicht anstoßest. When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; And if thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
13 Fasse die Zucht, laß nicht davon; bewahre sie, denn sie ist dein Leben. Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: Keep her; for she is thy life.
14 Komm nicht auf der Gottlosen Pfad und tritt nicht auf den Weg der Bösen. Enter not into the path of the wicked, And walk not in the way of evil men.
15 Laß ihn fahren und gehe nicht darin; weiche von ihm und gehe vorüber. Avoid it, pass not by it; Turn from it, and pass on.
16 Denn sie schlafen nicht, sie haben denn Übel getan; und ruhen nicht, sie haben den Schaden getan. For they sleep not, except they do evil; And their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
17 Denn sie nähren sich von gottlosem Brot und trinken vom Wein des Frevels. For they eat the bread of wickedness, And drink the wine of violence.
18 Aber der Gerechten Pfad glänzt wie das Licht, das immer heller leuchtet bis auf den vollen Tag. But the path of the righteous is as the dawning light, That shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
19 Der Gottlosen Weg aber ist wie Dunkel; sie wissen nicht, wo sie fallen werden. The way of the wicked is as darkness: They know not at what they stumble.
20 Mein Sohn, merke auf meine Worte und neige dein Ohr zu meiner Rede. My son, attend to my words; Incline thine ear unto my sayings.
21 Laß sie nicht von deinen Augen fahren, behalte sie in deinem Herzen. Let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep them in the midst of thy heart.
22 Denn sie sind das Leben denen, die sie finden, und gesund ihrem ganzen Leibe. For they are life unto those that find them, And health to all their flesh.
23 Behüte dein Herz mit allem Fleiß; denn daraus geht das Leben. Keep thy heart with all diligence; For out of it are the issues of life.
24 Tue von dir den verkehrten Mund und laß das Lästermaul ferne von dir sein. Put away from thee a wayward mouth, And perverse lips put far from thee.
25 Laß deine Augen stracks vor sich sehen und deine Augenlider richtig vor dir hin blicken. Let thine eyes look right on, And let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
26 Laß deinen Fuß gleich vor sich gehen, so gehst du gewiß. Make level the path of thy feet, And let all thy ways be established.
27 Wanke weder zur Rechten noch zur Linken; wende deinen Fuß vom Bösen. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: Remove thy foot from evil.
