| 2 | Erwecke deine Gewalt, der du vor Ephraim, Benjamin und Manasse bist, und komm uns zu Hilfe! | Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up thy might, And come to save us. |
| 3 | Gott, tröste uns und laß leuchten dein Antlitz; so genesen wir. | Turn us again, O God; And cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved. |
| 4 | HERR, Gott Zebaoth, wie lange willst du zürnen bei dem Gebet deines Volkes? | O Jehovah God of hosts, How long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people? |
| 5 | Du speisest sie mit Tränenbrot und tränkest sie mit großem Maß voll Tränen. | Thou hast fed them with the bread of tears, And given them tears to drink in large measure. |
| 6 | Du setzest uns unsre Nachbarn zum Zank, und unsre Feinde spotten unser. | Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbors; And our enemies laugh among themselves. |
| 7 | Gott Zebaoth, tröste uns, laß leuchten dein Antlitz; so genesen wir. | Turn us again, O God of hosts; And cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved. |
| 8 mapa | Du hast einen Weinstock aus Ägypten geholt und hast vertrieben die Heiden und denselben gepflanzt. | Thou broughtest a vine out of Egypt: Thou didst drive out the nations, and plantedst it. |
| 9 | Du hast vor ihm die Bahn gemacht und hast ihn lassen einwurzeln, daß er das Land erfüllt hat. | Thou preparedst [room] before it, And it took deep root, and filled the land. |
| 10 | Berge sind mit seinem Schatten bedeckt und mit seinen Reben die Zedern Gottes. | The mountains were covered with the shadow of it, And the boughs thereof were [like] cedars of God. |
| 11 mapa | Du hast sein Gewächs ausgebreitet bis an das Meer und seine Zweige bis an den Strom. | It sent out its branches unto the sea, And its shoots unto the River. |
| 12 | Warum hast du denn seinen Zaun zerbrochen, daß ihn zerreißt, alles, was vorübergeht? | Why hast thou broken down its walls, So that all they that pass by the way do pluck it? |
| 13 | Es haben ihn zerwühlt die wilden Säue, und die wilden Tiere haben ihn verderbt. | The boar out of the wood doth ravage it, And the wild beasts of the field feed on it. |
| 14 | Gott Zebaoth, wende dich doch, schaue vom Himmel und sieh an und suche heim diesen Weinstock | Turn again, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: Look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine, |
| 15 | und halt ihn im Bau, den deine Rechte gepflanzt hat und den du dir fest erwählt hast. | And the stock which thy right hand planted, And the branch that thou madest strong for thyself. |
| 16 | Siehe drein und schilt, daß des Brennens und Reißens ein Ende werde. {~} | It is burned with fire, it is cut down: They perish at the rebuke of thy countenance. |
| 17 | Deine Hand schütze das Volk deiner Rechten und die Leute, die du dir fest erwählt hast; | Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, Upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself. |
| 18 | so wollen wir nicht von dir weichen. Laß uns leben, so wollen wir deinen Namen anrufen. | So shall we not go back from thee: Quicken thou us, and we will call upon thy name. |
