When he made a change in his behaviour before Abimelech, who sent him away, and he went.> I will be blessing the Lord at all times; his praise will be ever in my mouth. |
| 2 | (H34:3)Herran hyvyyden tähden minä ylistän itseäni onnelliseksi. Maan hiljaiset kuulevat sen ja iloitsevat. | My soul will say great things of the Lord: the poor in spirit will have knowledge of it and be glad. |
| 3 | (H34:4)Tulkaa, kiittäkää minun kanssani Herraa, kunnioittakaamme yhdessä hänen nimeään! | O give praise to the Lord with me; let us be witnesses together of his great name. |
| 4 | (H34:5)Minä käännyin Herran puoleen, ja hän vastasi minulle. Hän vapautti minut kaikesta pelosta. | I was searching for the Lord, and he gave ear to my voice, and made me free from all my fears. |
| 5 | (H34:6)Ne, jotka katsovat häneen, säteilevät iloa, heidän kasvonsa eivät punastu häpeästä. | Let your eyes be turned to him and you will have light, and your faces will not be shamed. |
| 6 | (H34:7)Minä olin avuton ja huusin apua. Herra kuuli minua ja pelasti minut kaikesta hädästä. | This poor man's cry came before the Lord, and he gave him salvation from all his troubles. |
| 7 | (H34:8)Herran enkeli on asettunut vartioon. Hän suojaa niitä, jotka palvelevat Herraa, ja pelastaa heidät. | The angel of the Lord is ever watching over those who have fear of him, to keep them safe. |
| 8 | (H34:9)Katsokaa, nähkää omin silmin! Maistakaa, katsokaa Herran hyvyyttä! Onnellinen se, joka turvaa häneen. | By experience you will see that the Lord is good; happy is the man who has faith in him. |
| 9 | (H34:10)Pelätkää Herraa, te hänen pyhänsä! Mitään ei puutu niiltä, jotka häntä pelkäävät. | Keep yourselves in the fear of the Lord, all you his saints; for those who do so will have no need of anything. |
| 10 | (H34:11)Nuoret leijonatkin uupuvat ja näkevät nälkää, mutta sillä, joka turvaa Herraan, on kaikkea kyllin. | The young lions are in need and have no food; but those who are looking to the Lord will have every good thing. |
| 11 | (H34:12)Tulkaa, lapset, ja kuulkaa minua! Minä opetan teille, mitä on Herran pelko. | Come, children, give attention to me; I will be your teacher in the fear of the Lord. |
| 12 | (H34:13)Jos odotat elämältä hyvää ja toivot pitkää ikää, | What man has a love of life, and a desire that his days may be increased so that he may see good? |
| 13 | (H34:14)niin varo kieltäsi, älä päästä huulillesi petoksen sanaa. | Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from words of deceit. |
| 14 | (H34:15)Karta pahaa ja tee hyvää, pyri sopuun, rakenna rauhaa! | Be turned from evil, and do good; make a search for peace, desiring it with all your heart. |
| 15 | (H34:16)Herran silmät katsovat vanhurskaita, hänen korvansa kuulevat heidän avunhuutonsa. | The eyes of the Lord are on the upright, and his ears are open to their cry. |
| 16 | (H34:17)Herra kääntyy pahantekijöitä vastaan, heidän muistonsakin hän hävittää maan päältä. | The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to take away the memory of them from the earth. |
| 17 | (H34:18)Kun vanhurskaat huutavat apua, Herra kuulee ja pelastaa heidät kaikesta hädästä. | The cry of the upright comes before the Lord, and he takes them out of all their troubles. |
| 18 | (H34:19)Herra on lähellä niitä, joilla on särkynyt sydän, hän pelastaa ne, joilla on murtunut mieli. | The Lord is near the broken-hearted; he is the saviour of those whose spirits are crushed down. |
| 19 | (H34:20)Monet vaivat kohtaavat vanhurskasta, mutta kaikista niistä Herra hänet vapauttaa. | Great are the troubles of the upright: but the Lord takes him safely out of them all. |
| 20 | (H34:21)Herra varjelee häntä, ei yksikään hänen luunsa murru. | He keeps all his bones: not one of them is broken. |
| 21 | (H34:22)Jumalattoman tuhoaa hänen oma pahuutensa, tuomion saavat vanhurskaan vihamiehet. | Evil will put an end to the sinner, and those who are haters of righteousness will come to destruction. |
| 22 | (H34:23)Niitä, jotka turvaavat Herraan, ei kohtaa tuomio. Hän lunastaa heidät vapaiksi. | The Lord will be the saviour of the souls of his servants, and no one who has faith in him will be put to shame. |
