Gênesis 11

1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. Mind az egész földnek pedig egy nyelve és egyféle beszéde vala.
2 mapa And it came to pass as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there. És lõn mikor kelet felõl elindultak vala, Sineár földén egy síkságot találának és ott letelepedének.
3 And they said one to another, come, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar. És mondának egymásnak: Jertek, vessünk téglát és égessük ki jól; és lõn nékik a tégla kõ gyanánt, a szurok pedig ragasztó gyanánt.
4 And they said, come, let us build us a city, and a tower, whose top may reach to heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we should be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. És mondának: Jertek, építsünk magunknak várost és tornyot, melynek teteje az eget érje, és szerezzünk magunknak nevet, hogy el ne széledjünk az egész földnek színén.
5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men were building. Az Úr pedig leszálla, hogy lássa a várost és a tornyot, melyet építenek vala az emberek fiai.
6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. És monda az Úr: Ímé e nép egy, s az egésznek egy a nyelve, és munkájának ez a kezdete; és bizony semmi sem gátolja, hogy véghez ne vigyenek mindent, a mit elgondolnak magukban.
7 Come, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. Nosza szálljunk alá, és zavarjuk ott össze nyelvöket, hogy meg ne értsék egymás beszédét.
8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. És elszéleszté õket onnan az Úr az egész földnek színére; és megszûnének építeni a várost.
9 mapa Therefore is the name of it called Babel, because the LORD there confounded the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth. Ezért nevezék annak nevét Bábelnek; mert ott zavará össze az Úr az egész föld nyelvét, és onnan széleszté el õket az Úr az egész földnek színére.
10 These are the generations of Shem: Shem was a hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood: Ez a Sém nemzetsége: Sém száz esztendõs korában nemzé Arpaksádot, két esztendõvel az özönvíz után.
11 And Shem lived after he begat Arphaxad five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters. És éle Sém, minekutánna nemzette Arpaksádot, ötszáz esztendeig és nemze fiakat és leányokat.
12 And Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and begat Salah. Arpaksád pedig harminczöt esztendõs vala, és nemzé Séláht.
13 And Arphaxad lived after he begat Salah four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters. És éle Arpaksád, minekutánna nemzette Séláht, négyszáz három esztendeig, és nemze fiakat és leányokat.
14 And Salah lived thirty years, and begat Eber: Séláh pedig harmincz esztendõs vala, és nemzé Hébert.
15 And Salah lived after he begat Eber four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters. És éle Séláh, minekutánna nemzé Hébert, négyszáz három esztendeig, és nemze fiakat és leányokat.
16 And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg: Héber pedig harmincznégy esztendõs vala és nemzé Péleget.
17 And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters. És éle Héber, minekutánna nemzé Péleget, négyszáz harmincz esztendeig, és nemze fiakat és leányokat.
18 And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu: Péleg pedig harmincz esztendõs vala, és nemzé Réut.
19 And Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters. És éle Péleg, minekutánna nemzé Réut, kétszáz kilencz esztendeig, és nemze fiakat és leányokat.
20 And Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat Serug. Réu pedig harminczkét esztendõs vala, és nemzé Sérugot.
21 And Reu lived after he begat Serug two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters. És éle Réu, minekutánna nemzé Sérugot, kétszáz hét esztendeig és nemze fiakat és leányokat.
22 And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor: Sérug pedig harmincz esztendõs vala, és nemzé Nákhort.
23 And Serug lived after he begat Nahor two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters. És éle Sérug, minekutánna nemzé Nákhort, kétszáz esztendeig, és nemze fiakat és leányokat.
24 And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah. Nákhor pedig huszonkilencz esztendõs vala, és nemzé Thárét.
25 And Nahor lived after he begat Terah a hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters. És éle Nákhor, minekutánna nemzé Thárét, száz tizenkilencz esztendeig, és nemze fiakat és leányokat.
26 And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Tháré pedig hetven esztendõs vala, és nemzé Ábrámot, Nákhort, Háránt.
27 Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran: and Haran begat Lot. Ez a Tháré nemzetsége: Tháré nemzé Ábrámot, Nákhort és Háránt. Hárán pedig nemzé Lótot.
28 mapa And Haran died before his father Terah, in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees. Meghala pedig Hárán, az õ atyjának Thárénak szemei elõtt, az õ születésének földjén, Úr-Kaszdimban.
29 And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah. Ábrám pedig és Nákhor võnek magoknak feleséget: az Ábrám feleségének neve Szárai; a Nákhor feleségének neve Milkhah, Háránnak Milkhah atyjának és Jiszkáh atyjának leánya.
30 But Sarai was barren; she had no child. Szárai pedig magtalan vala; nem vala néki gyermeke.
31 mapa And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came to Haran, and dwelt there. És felvevé Tháré Ábrámot az õ fiát, és Lótot, Háránnak fiát, az õ unokáját, és Szárait, az õ menyét, Ábrámnak az õ fiának feleségét, és kiindulának együtt Úr-Kaszdimból, hogy Kanaán földére menjenek. És eljutának Háránig, és ott letelepedének.
32 mapa And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran. Vala pedig Tháré kétszáz öt esztendõs, és meghala Tháré Háránban.
