João 1

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Kezdetben vala az Íge, és az Íge vala az Istennél, és Isten vala az Íge.
2 The same was in the beginning with God. Ez kezdetben az Istennél vala.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. Minden õ általa lett és nála nélkül semmi sem lett, a mi lett.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. Õ benne vala az élet, és az élet vala az emberek világossága;
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. És a világosság a sötétségben fénylik, de a sötétség nem fogadta be azt.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. Vala egy Istentõl küldött ember, kinek neve János.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear testimony of the Light, that all men through him might believe. Ez jött tanúbizonyságul, hogy bizonyságot tegyen a világosságról, hogy mindenki higyjen õ általa.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear testimony of that Light. Nem õ vala a világosság, hanem [jött,] hogy bizonyságot tegyen a világosságról.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. Az igazi világosság eljött volt [már] a világba, a mely megvilágosít minden embert.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. A világban volt és a világ általa lett, de a világ nem ismerte meg õt.
11 He came to his own, and his own received him not. Az övéi közé jöve, és az övéi nem fogadák be õt.
12 But as many as received him, to them he gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Valakik pedig befogadák õt, hatalmat ada azoknak, hogy Isten fiaivá legyenek, azoknak, a kik az õ nevében hisznek;
13 Who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. A kik nem vérbõl, sem a testnek akaratából, sem a férfiúnak indulatjából, hanem Istentõl születtek.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. És az Íge testté lett és lakozék mi közöttünk (és láttuk az õ dicsõségét, mint az Atya egyszülöttjének dicsõségét), a ki teljes vala kegyelemmel és igazsággal.
15 John testified concerning him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spoke, He that cometh after me, is preferred before me; for he was before me. János bizonyságot tett õ róla, és kiáltott, mondván: Ez vala, a kirõl mondám: A ki utánam jõ, elõttem lett, mert elõbb volt nálamnál.
16 And of his fullness have we all received, and grace for grace. És az õ teljességébõl vettünk mindnyájan kegyelmet is kegyelemért.
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. Mert a törvény Mózes által adatott, a kegyelem [pedig] és az igazság Jézus Krisztus által lett.
18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. Az Istent soha senki nem látta; az egyszülött Fiú, a ki az Atya kebelében van, az jelentette ki [õt.]
19 mapa And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem, to ask him, Who art thou? És ez a János bizonyságtétele, a mikor a zsidók papokat és Lévitákat küldöttek Jeruzsálembõl, hogy megkérdezzék õt: Kicsoda vagy te?
20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ. És megvallá és nem tagadá; és megvallá, hogy: Nem én vagyok a Krisztus.
21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? and he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No. És kérdezék õt: Kicsoda tehát? Illés vagy-é te? És monda: Nem vagyok. A próféta vagy-é te? És õ felele: Nem.
22 Then said they to him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself? Mondának azért néki: Kicsoda vagy? Hogy megfelelhessünk azoknak, a kik minket elküldöttek: Mit mondasz magad felõl?
23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Isaiah. Monda: Én kiáltó szó vagyok a pusztában. Egyengessétek az Úrnak útját, a mint megmondotta Ésaiás próféta.
24 And they who were sent were of the Pharisees. És a küldöttek a farizeusok közül valók voltak:
25 And they asked him, and said to him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou art not that Christ, nor Elijah, neither that prophet? És megkérdék õt és mondának néki: Miért keresztelsz tehát, ha te nem vagy a Krisztus, sem Illés, sem a próféta?
26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not; Felele nékik János, mondván: Én vízzel keresztelek; de köztetek van, a kit ti nem ismertek.
27 He it is, who coming after me, is preferred before me, whose shoes' latchet I am not worthy to unloose. Õ az, a ki utánam jõ, a ki elõttem lett, a kinek én nem vagyok méltó, hogy saruja szíjját megoldjam.
28 mapa These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing. Ezek Béthabarában lettek, a Jordánon túl, a hol János keresztel vala.
29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming to him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world. Másnap látá János Jézust õ hozzá menni, és monda: Ímé az Istennek ama báránya, a ki elveszi a világ bûneit!
30 This is he of whom I said, after me cometh a man who is preferred before me; for he was before me. Ez az, a kirõl én ezt mondám: Én utánam jõ egy férfiú, a ki elõttem lett, mert elõbb volt nálamnál.
31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water. És én nem ismertem õt; de hogy megjelentessék Izráelnek, azért jöttem én, a ki vízzel keresztelek.
32 And John bore testimony, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. És bizonyságot tõn János, mondván: Láttam a Lelket leszállani az égbõl, mint egy galambot; és megnyugovék õ rajta.
33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said to me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and remaining on him, the same is he who baptizeth with the Holy Spirit. És én nem ismertem õt; de a ki elkülde engem, hogy vízzel kereszteljek, az mondá nékem: A kire látod a Lelket leszállani és rajta megnyugodni, az az, a ki keresztel Szent Lélekkel.
34 And I saw and bore testimony, that this is the Son of God. És én láttam, és bizonyságot tettem, hogy ez az Isten Fia.
35 Again the next day after, John stood, and two of his disciples; Másnap ismét [ott] állt vala János és kettõ az õ tanítványai közül;
36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God! És ránézvén Jézusra, a mint [ott] jár vala, monda: Ímé az Isten Báránya!
37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. És hallá õt a két tanítvány, a mint szól vala, és követék Jézust.
38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith to them, What seek ye? They said to him, Rabbi (which is to say, being interpreted, Master) where dwellest thou? Jézus pedig hátrafordulván és látván, hogy követik azok, monda nékik:
39 He saith to them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour. Mit kerestek? Azok pedig mondának néki: Rabbi, (a mi megmagyarázva azt teszi: Mester) hol lakol?
40 One of the two who heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. Monda nékik: Jõjjetek és lássátok meg. Elmenének és megláták, hol lakik; és nála maradának azon a napon: vala pedig körülbelül tíz óra.
41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith to him, We have found the Messiah; which is, being interpreted, the Christ. A kettõ közül, a kik Jánostól [ezt] hallották és õt követték vala, András volt az egyik, a Simon Péter testvére.
42 And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas; which is, by interpretation, a stone. Találkozék ez elõször a maga testvérével, Simonnal, és monda néki: Megtaláltuk a Messiást (a mi megmagyarázva azt teszi: Krisztus);
43 mapa The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith to him, follow me. És vezeté õt Jézushoz. Jézus pedig reá tekintvén, monda: Te Simon vagy, a Jóna fia; te Kéfásnak fogsz hivatni (a mi megmagyarázva: Kõszikla).
44 mapa Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. A következõ napon Galileába akart menni Jézus; és találkozék Fileppel, és monda néki: Kövess engem!
45 mapa Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith to him, We have found him described by Moses in the law, and by the prophets, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. Filep pedig Bethsaidából, az András és Péter városából való volt.
46 mapa And Nathanael said to him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith to him, Come and see. Találkozék Filep Nátánaellel, és monda néki: A ki felõl írt Mózes a törvényben, és a próféták, megtaláltuk a názáreti Jézust, Józsefnek fiát.
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! És monda néki Nátánael: Názáretbõl támadhat-é valami jó? Monda néki Filep: Jer és lásd meg!
48 Nathanael saith to him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said to him, Before Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig-tree, I saw thee. Látá Jézus Nátánaelt õ hozzá menni, és monda õ felõle: Ímé egy igazán Izráelita, a kiben hamisság nincsen.
49 Nathanael answered and said to him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel. Monda néki Nátánael: Honnan ismersz engem? Felele Jézus és monda néki: Mielõtt hítt téged Filep, láttalak téged, a mint a fügefa alatt voltál.
50 Jesus answered and said to him, Because I said to thee, I saw thee under the fig-tree, dost thou believe? thou shalt see greater things than these. Felele Nátánael és monda néki: Rabbi, te vagy az Isten Fia, te vagy az Izráel Királya!
51 And he saith to him, Verily, verily, I say to you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man. Felele Jézus és monda néki: Hogy azt mondám néked: láttalak a fügefa alatt, hiszel? Nagyobbakat látsz majd ezeknél. [ (John 1:52) És monda néki: Bizony, bizony mondom néktek: Mostantól fogva meglátjátok a megnyilt eget, és az Isten angyalait, a mint felszállnak és leszállnak az ember Fiára. ]
