Lucas 1

 
1 Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, Mivelhogy sokan kezdették rendszerint megírni azoknak a dolgoknak az elbeszélését, a melyek minálunk beteljesedtek,
2 Even as they delivered them to us, who from the beginning were eye-witnesses, and ministers of the word; A mint nékünk elõnkbe adták, a kik kezdettõl fogva szemtanúi és szolgái voltak az ígének:
3 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, Tetszék énnékem is, ki eleitõl fogva mindeneknek szorgalmasan végére jártam, hogy azokról rendszerint írjak néked, jó Theofilus,
4 That thou mayest know the certainty of those things in which thou hast been instructed. Hogy megtudhasd azoknak a dolgoknak bizonyosságát, a melyekre taníttatál.
5 ver mapa There was in the days of Herod the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. Heródesnek, a Júdea királyának idejében vala egy Zakariás nevû pap az Abia rendjébõl; az õ felesége pedig az Áron leányai közül való vala, és annak neve Erzsébet.
6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. És mind a ketten igazak valának az Isten elõtt, kik az Úrnak minden parancsolataiban és rendeléseiben feddhetetlenül jártak.
7 And they had no child, because Elisabeth was barren, and they both were far advanced in years. És nem volt nékik gyermekük, mert Erzsébet meddõ vala, és mind a ketten [immár] idõs emberek valának.
8 And it came to pass, that, while he executed the priests' office before God in the order of his course, Lõn pedig, hogy mikor õ rendjének sorában papi szolgálatot végzett az Isten elõtt,
9 According to the custom of the priests' office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord. A papi tiszt szokása szerint reá jutott a sor, hogy bemenvén az Úrnak templomába, jó illatot gerjesszen.
10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying without, at the time of incense. És a népnek egész sokasága imádkozék kívül a jó illatozás idején;
11 And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. Néki pedig megjelenék az Úrnak angyala, állván a füstölõ oltár jobbja felõl.
12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. És láttára megrettene Zakariás, és félelem szállá meg õt.
13 But the angel said to him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. Monda pedig az angyal néki: Ne félj Zakariás; mert meghallgattatott a te könyörgésed, és a te feleséged Erzsébet szül néked fiat, és nevezed az õ nevét Jánosnak.
14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness, and many shall rejoice at his birth. És lészen tenéked örömödre és vigasságodra, és sokan fognak örvendezni az õ születésén;
15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb. Mert nagy lészen az Úr elõtt, és bort és részegítõ italt nem iszik; és betelik Szent Lélekkel még az õ anyjának méhétõl fogva.
16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. És az Izrael fiai közül sokakat megtérít az Úrhoz, az õ Istenükhöz.
17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. És ez [Õ] elõtte fog járni az Illés lelkével és erejével, hogy az atyák szívét a fiakhoz térítse, és az engedetleneket az igazak bölcsességére, hogy készítsen az Úrnak tökéletes népet.
18 And Zacharias said to the angel, By what shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife far advanced in years. És monda Zakariás az angyalnak: Mirõl tudhatom én ezt meg? mert én vén vagyok, és az én feleségem [is] igen idõs.
19 And the angel answering, said to him, I am Gabriel, who stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak to thee, and to show thee these glad tidings. És felelvén az angyal, monda néki: Én Gábriel vagyok, ki az Isten elõtt állok; és küldettem, hogy szóljak veled, és ez örvendetes dolgokat jelentsem néked.
20 And behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words which shall be fulfilled in their season. És ímé megnémulsz és nem szólhatsz mindama napig, a melyen ezek meglesznek: mivelhogy nem hittél az én beszédimnek, a melyek beteljesednek az õ idejökben.
21 And the people waited for Zacharias, and marveled that he tarried so long in the temple. A nép pedig várja vala Zakariást, és csodálkozék, hogy a templomban késik.
22 And when he came out, he could not speak to them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple; for he beckoned to them, and remained speechless. És kijövén, nem szólhata nékik; eszökbe vevék azért, hogy látást látott a templomban; mert õ [csak] integetett nékik, és néma maradt.
23 And it came to pass, that as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house. És lõn, hogy mikor leteltek az õ szolgálatának napjai, elméne haza.
24 And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and secluded herself five months, saying, E napok után pedig fogada méhében Erzsébet az õ felesége, és elrejtõzék öt hónapig, mondván:
25 Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days in which he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men. Így cselekedett velem az Úr a napokban, a melyekben [reám] tekinte, hogy elvegye az én gyalázatomat az emberek között.
26 ver mapa And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, A hatodik hónapban pedig elküldeték Gábriel angyal Istentõl Galileának városába, a melynek neve Názáret,
27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. Egy szûzhöz, a ki a Dávid házából való József nevû férfiúnak volt eljegyezve. A szûznek neve pedig Mária.
28 And the angel came to her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. És bemenvén az angyal õ hozzá, monda néki: Örülj, kegyelembe fogadott! Az Úr veled van, áldott vagy te az asszonyok között.
29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. Az pedig látván, megdöbbene az õ beszédén, és elgondolkodék, [hogy] micsoda köszöntés ez?!
30 And the angel said to her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God. És monda néki az angyal: Ne félj Mária, mert kegyelmet találtál az Istennél.
31 And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. És ímé fogansz a te méhedben, és szülsz fiat, és nevezed az õ nevét JÉZUSNAK.
32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David. Ez nagy lészen, és a Magasságos Fiának hivattatik; és néki adja az Úr Isten a Dávidnak, az õ atyjának, királyi székét;
33 And he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever, and of his kingdom there will be no end. És uralkodik a Jákób házán mindörökké; és az õ királyságának vége nem lészen!
34 Then said Mary to the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? Monda pedig Mária az angyalnak: Mimódon lesz ez, holott én férfiat nem ismerek?
35 And the angel answered and said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon thee, and the power of the Highest will overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. És felelvén az angyal, monda néki: A Szent Lélek száll te reád, és a Magasságosnak ereje árnyékoz meg téged; azért a mi születik is szentnek hivatik, Isten Fiának.
36 And behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren: És ímé Erzsébet, a te rokonod, õ is fogant fiat az õ vénségében; és ez [már] a hatodik hónapja néki, a kit meddõnek hívtak:
37 For with God nothing will be impossible. Mert az Istennél semmi sem lehetetlen.
38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it to me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. Monda pedig Mária: Imhol az Úrnak szolgálója; legyen nékem a te beszéded szerint. És elméne õ tõle az angyal.
39 And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill-country with haste, into a city of Judah, Fölkelvén pedig Mária azokban a napokban, nagy sietséggel méne a hegységbe, Júdának városába;
40 And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. És beméne Zakariásnak házába, és köszönté Erzsébetet.
41 And it came to pass, that when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb: and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. És lõn, mikor hallotta Erzsébet Mária köszöntését, a magzat repese az õ méhében; és betelék Erzsébet Szent Lélekkel;
42 And she spoke with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. És fennszóval kiálta, mondván: Áldott vagy te az asszonyok között, és áldott a te méhednek gyümölcse.
43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? És honnét van ez nékem, hogy az én Uramnak anyja jön én hozzám?
44 For lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. Mert ímé, mihelyt a te köszöntésednek szava füleimbe hatolt, a magzat örvendezéssel kezde repesni az én méhemben.
45 And blessed is she that believed that there will be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. És boldog az, a ki hitt; mert beteljesednek azok, a miket az Úr néki mondott.
46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, Akkor monda Mária: Magasztalja az én lelkem az Urat,
47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior. És örvendez az én lelkem az én megtartó Istenemben.
48 For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for behold, from henceforth all generations will call me blessed. Mert reá tekintett az õ szolgáló leányának alázatos állapotjára; mert ímé mostantól fogva boldognak mondanak engem minden nemzetségek.
49 For he that is mighty hath done to me great things, and holy is his name. Mert nagy dolgokat cselekedék velem a Hatalmas; és szent az õ neve!
50 And his mercy is on them that fear him, from generation to generation. És az õ irgalmassága nemzetségrõl nemzetségre [vagyon] azokon, a kik õt félik.
51 He hath shown strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. Hatalmas dolgot cselekedék karjának ereje által, elszéleszté az õ szívök gondolatában felfuvalkodottakat.
52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. Hatalmasokat dönte le trónjaikról, és alázatosakat magasztalt fel.
53 He hath filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he hath sent away empty. Éhezõket töltött be javakkal, és gazdagokat küldött el üresen.
54 He hath sustained his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy; Felvevé Izráelnek, az õ szolgájának ügyét, hogy megemlékezzék az õ irgalmasságáról.
55 As he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever. (A miképen szólott volt a mi atyáinknak), Ábrahám iránt és az õ magva iránt mindörökké!
56 And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house. Marada pedig Mária Erzsébettel mintegy három hónapig; azután haza tére.
57 Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son. Erzsébetnek pedig betelék az õ szülésének ideje, és szûle fiat.
58 And her neighbors and her cousins heard that the Lord had shown great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her. És meghallák az õ szomszédai és rokonai, hogy az Úr nagy kegyelmességet cselekedett õ vele; és együtt örülének vele.
59 And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father. És lõn nyolczad napon, eljövének, hogy körülmetéljék a gyermeket; és az õ atyja nevérõl Zakariásnak akarák õt nevezni.
60 And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John. És felelvén az õ anyja, monda: Nem; hanem Jánosnak neveztessék.
61 And they said to her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name. És mondának néki: Senki sincs a te rokonságodban, a ki ezen a néven neveztetnék.
62 And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called. És intének az õ atyjának, hogy minek akarja neveztetni?
63 And he asked for a writing-table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they all wondered. Az pedig táblát kérvén, ezt írá, mondván: János a neve. És elcsodálkozának mindnyájan.
64 And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spoke, and praised God. És feloldódék az õ szája és nyelve azonnal, és szóla, áldván az Istent.
65 ver mapa And fear came on all that dwelt around them; and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill-country of Judea. És félelem szállott minden õ szomszédaikra; és Júdeának egész hegyes tartományában elhirdettetének mind e dolgok.
66 And all they that had heard them, laid them up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child will this be! And the hand of the Lord was with him. És szívökre vevék mindenek, a kik hallák, mondván: Vajjon mi lesz e gyermekbõl? És az Úrnak keze vala õ vele.
67 And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying, És Zakariás, az õ atyja beteljesedék Szent Lélekkel, és prófétála mondván:
68 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people. Áldott az Úr, Izráel Istene, hogy meglátogatta és megváltotta az õ népét,
69 And hath raised up a horn of salvation for us, in the house of his servant David: És felemelte az üdvösségnek szarvát nékünk az õ gyermekének, Dávidnak házában,
70 As he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets, who have been since the world began: A mint szólott az õ szent prófétáinak szája által, kik eleitõl fogva voltak,
71 That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; Hogy a mi ellenségeinktõl megszabadít, és mindazoknak kezébõl, a kik minket gyûlölnek;
72 To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant: Hogy irgalmasságot cselekedjék a mi atyáinkkal, és megemlékezzék az õ szent szövetségérõl,
73 The oath which he swore to our father Abraham, Az esküvésrõl, a melylyel megesküdt Ábrahámnak, a mi atyánknak, hogy õ megadja nékünk,
74 That he would grant to us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear, Hogy megszabadulván a mi ellenségeink kezébõl, félelem nélkül szolgáljunk néki.
75 In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life. Szentségben és igazságban õ elõtte a mi életünknek minden napjaiban.
76 And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest, for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; Te pedig kis gyermek, a magasságos [Isten] prófétájának hivattatol; mert az Úr elõtt jársz, hogy az õ útait megkészítsed;
77 To give knowledge of salvation to his people, by the remission of their sins, És az üdvösség ismeretére megtanítsad az õ népét, a bûnöknek bocsánatjában.
78 Through the tender mercy of our God; by which the day-spring from on high hath visited us, A mi Istenünk nagy irgalmasságáért, a melylyel meglátogatott minket a naptámadat a magasságból,
79 To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shades of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. Hogy megjelenjék azoknak, a kik a sötétségben és a halálnak árnyékában ülnek; hogy igazgassa a mi lábainkat a békességnek útjára!
80 And the child grew, and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his showing to Israel. A kis gyermek pedig nevekedik és erõsödik vala lélekben; és a pusztában vala mind ama napig, a melyen megmutatta magát az Izráelnek.
