Lucas 2

1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Cesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. És lõn azokban a napokban, Augusztus császártól parancsolat adaték ki, hogy mind az egész föld összeirattassék.
2 mapa (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) Ez az összeírás elõször akkor történt, mikor Siriában Czirénius volt a helytartó.
3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. Mennek vala azért mindenek, hogy beirattassanak, kiki a maga városába.
4 mapa And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David) Felméne pedig József is Galileából, Názáret városából Júdeába,a Dávid városába, mely Bethlehemnek neveztetik, mivelhogy a Dávid házából és háznépe közül való volt;
5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. Hogy beirattassék Máriával, a ki néki jegyeztetett feleségül, és várandós vala.
6 And so it was, that while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. És lõn, hogy mikor ott valának, betelének az õ szülésének napjai.
7 And she brought forth her first-born son, and wrapped him in swaddling-clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. És szülé az õ elsõszülött fiát; és bepólyálá õt, és helyhezteté õt a jászolba, mivelhogy nem vala nékik helyök a vendégfogadó háznál.
8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. Valának pedig pásztorok azon a vidéken, a kik künn a mezõn tanyáztak és vigyáztak éjszakán az õ nyájok mellett.
9 And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were in great fear. És ímé az Úrnak angyala hozzájok jöve, és az Úrnak dicsõsége körülvevé õket: és nagy félelemmel megfélemlének.
10 And the angel said to them, Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people. És monda az angyal nékik: Ne féljetek, mert ímé hirdetek néktek nagy örömet, mely az egész népnek öröme lészen:
11 For to you is born this day, in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Mert született néktek ma a Megtartó, ki az Úr Krisztus, a Dávid városában.
12 And this shall be a sign to you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling-clothes, lying in a manger. Ez pedig néktek a jele: találtok egy kis gyermeket bepólyálva feküdni a jászolban.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, És hirtelenséggel jelenék az angyallal mennyei seregek sokasága, a kik az Istent dícsérik és ezt mondják vala:
14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will towards men. Dicsõség a magasságos [mennyek]ben az Istennek, és e földön békesség, és az emberekhez jó akarat!
15 mapa And it came to pass, when the angels had departed from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even to Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known to us. És lõn, hogy mikor elmentek az angyalok õ tõlök a mennybe, mondának a pásztoremberek egymásnak: Menjünk el mind Bethlehemig, és lássuk meg e dolgot, a melyet az Úr megjelentett nékünk.
16 And they came with haste, and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. Elmenének azért sietséggel, és megtalálák Máriát és Józsefet, és a kis gyermeket, ki a jászolban fekszik vala.
17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. És ezt látván, elhirdeték, a mi nékik a gyermek felõl mondatott vala.
18 And all they that heard it, wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. És mindenek, a kik hallák, elcsodálkozának azokon, a miket a pásztorok nékik mondottak.
19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. Mária pedig mind ez ígéket megtartja, és szívében forgatja vala.
20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told to them. A pásztorok pedig visszatérének, dicsõítvén és dícsérvén az Istent mind azok felõl, a miket hallottak és láttak, a mint nékik megmondatott.
21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, who was so named by the angel before he was conceived in the womb. És mikor betölt a nyolcz nap, hogy a kis gyermeket körülmetéljék, nevezék az õ nevét Jézusnak, a mint õt az angyal nevezte, mielõtt fogantatott volna anyja méhében.
22 mapa And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord; Mikor pedig betöltek [Mária] tisztulásának napjai a Mózes törvénye szerint, felvivék õt Jeruzsálembe, hogy bemutassák az Úrnak.
23 (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that is the first born of his mother shall be called holy to the Lord) (A mint megiratott az Úr törvényében, hogy: Minden elsõszülött fiú az Úrnak szenteltessék),
24 And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtle-doves, or two young pigeons. És hogy áldozatot adjanak, a szerint a mint megmondatott az Úr törvényében: Egy pár gerliczét, vagy két galambfiat.
25 mapa And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Spirit was upon him. És ímé vala Jeruzsálemben egy ember, a kinek neve Simeon volt, és ez az ember igaz és istenfélõ vala, a ki várta az Izráel vigasztalását, és a Szent Lélek vala õ rajta.
26 And it was revealed to him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ. És kijelentetett néki a Szent Lélek által, hogy addig halált nem lát, a míg meg nem látja az Úrnak Krisztusát.
27 And he came by the spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, És õ a Lélek indításából a templomba méne, és mikor a gyermek Jézust bevivék szülõi, hogy õ érette a törvény szokása szerint cselekedjenek,
28 Then he took him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, Akkor õ karjaiba vevé õt, és áldá az Istent, és monda:
29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: Mostan bocsátod el, Uram, a te szolgádat, a te beszéded szerint, békességben:
30 For my eyes have seen thy salvation, Mert látták az én szemeim a te üdvösségedet,
31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; A melyet készítettél minden népeknek szeme láttára;
32 A light to enlighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. Világosságul a pogányok megvilágosítására, és a te népednek, az Izráelnek dicsõségére.
33 And Joseph and his mother marveled at those things which were spoken concerning him. József pedig és az õ anyja csodálkozának azokon, a miket õ felõle mondottak.
34 And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against; És megáldá õket Simeon, és monda Máriának, az õ anyjának: Ímé ez vettetett sokaknak elestére és feltámadására az Izráelben; és jegyül, a kinek [sokan] ellene mondanak;
35 (And a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed. Sõt a te lelkedet is általhatja az éles tõr; hogy sok szív gondolatai nyilvánvalókká legyenek.
36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher: she was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity; És vala egy prófétaasszony, Anna, a Fánuel leánya, az Áser nemzetségébõl (ez sok idõt élt, miután az õ szûzességétõl fogva hét esztendeig élt férjével,
37 And she was a widow of about eighty four years, who departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. És ez mintegy nyolczvannégy esztendõs özvegy vala), a ki nem távozék el a templomból, hanem bõjtölésekkel és imádkozásokkal szolgál vala éjjel és nappal.
38 mapa And she coming in that instant, gave thanks likewise to the Lord, and spoke of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem. Ez is ugyanazon órában oda állván, hálát adott az Úrnak, és szóla õ felõle mindeneknek, a kik Jeruzsálemben a váltságot várták.
39 mapa And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth. És mikor mindent elvégeztek az Úr törvénye szerint, visszatérének Galileába, az õ városukba, Názáretbe.
40 And the child grew, and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. A kis gyermek pedig növekedék, és erõsödék lélekben, teljesedve bölcsességgel; és az Istennek kegyelme vala õ rajta.
41 mapa Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. Az õ szülei pedig évenként feljártak Jeruzsálembe a húsvét ünnepére.
42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast. És mikor tizenkét esztendõs lett, fölmenének Jeruzsálembe az ünnep szokása szerint;
43 mapa And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. És mikor eltelének a napok, mikor õk visszatérének, a gyermek Jézus visszamarada Jeruzsálemben; és nem vevék észre sem József, sem az õ anyja;
44 But they, supposing him to be in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their relations and acquaintance. Hanem azt gondolván, hogy az úti társaságban van, egy napi járó földet menének, és keresék õt a rokonok és az ismerõsök között;
45 mapa And when they found him not, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking him. És mikor nem találák õt, visszamenének Jeruzsálembe, hogy megkeressék.
46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. És lõn, hogy harmadnapra megtalálták õt a templomban, a doktorok között ülve, a mint õket hallgatta, és kérdezgette õket.
47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. És mindnyájan, a kik õt hallgatták, elálmélkodának az õ értelmén és az õ feleletein.
48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said to him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. És meglátván õt, elcsodálkozának, és monda néki az õ anyja: Fiam, miért cselekedted ezt velünk? Ímé atyád és én nagy bánattal kerestünk téged.
49 And he said to them, How is it that ye sought me? knew ye not that I must be about my Father's business? Õ pedig monda nékik: Mi dolog, hogy engem kerestetek? Avagy nem tudjátok-é, hogy nékem azokban kell foglalatosnak lennem, a melyek az én Atyámnak dolgai?
50 And they understood not the saying which he spoke to them. De õk nem érték e beszédet, a mit õ nékik szóla.
51 mapa And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. És aláméne velök, és méne Názáretbe; és engedelmes vala nékik. És az õ anyja szívében tartá mind ezeket a dolgokat.
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. Jézus pedig gyarapodék bölcsességben és testének állapotjában, és az Isten és emberek elõtt való kedvességben.
