| 1 | At that time Jesus went on the sabbath through the corn, and his disciples were hungry, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat. | Abban az idõben a vetéseken át haladt Jézus szombatnapon; tanítványai pedig megéheztek, és kezdték a kalászokat tépni és enni. |
| 2 | But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him, Behold, thy disciples do that which it is not lawful to do on the sabbath. | Látván pedig ezt a farizeusok, mondának néki: Ímé a te tanítványaid azt cselekszik, a mit nem szabad szombatnapon cselekedni. |
| 3 | But he said to them, Have ye not read what David did when he was hungry, and they that were with him; | Õ pedig monda nékik: Nem olvastátok-é, mit cselekedett Dávid, mikor megéhezett vala õ és a kik vele valának? |
| 4 | How he entered into the house of God, and ate the show-bread, which it was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them who were with him, but only for the priests? | Hogyan ment be az Isten házába, és ette meg a szentelt kenyereket, a melyeket nem vala szabad megennie néki, sem azoknak, a kik õ vele valának, hanem csak a papoknak? |
| 5 | Or have ye not read in the law, that on the sabbath the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? | Vagy nem olvastátok-é a törvényben, hogy szombatnapon megtörik a papok a szombatot a templomban és nem vétkeznek? |
| 6 | But I say to you, that in this place is one greater than the temple. | Mondom pedig néktek, hogy a templomnál nagyobb van itt. |
| 7 | But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless. | Ha pedig tudnátok, mi ez: Irgalmasságot akarok és nem áldozatot, nem kárhoztattátok volna az ártatlanokat. |
| 8 | For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath. | Mert a szombatnak is Ura az embernek Fia. |
| 9 | And when he had departed thence, he went into their synagogue. | És távozván onnan, méne az õ zsinagógájukba. |
| 10 | And behold, there was a man who had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath? that they might accuse him. | És ímé, vala ott egy elszáradt kezû ember. És megkérdék õt, mondván: Ha szabad-é szombatnapon gyógyítani? hogy vádolhassák õt. |
| 11 | And he said to them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it shall fall into a pit on the sabbath, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? | Õ pedig monda nékik: Kicsoda közületek az az ember, a kinek van egy juha, és ha az szombatnapon a verembe esik, meg nem ragadja és ki nem vonja azt? |
| 12 | How much then is a man better than a sheep? wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. | Mennyivel drágább pedig az ember a juhnál! Szabad tehát szombatnapon jót cselekedni. |
| 13 | Then saith he to the man, Stretch out thy hand. And he stretched it out; and it was restored to a sound state like the other. | Akkor monda annak az embernek: Nyújtsd ki a kezedet. És kinyújtá, és olyan éppé lõn, mint a másik. |
| 14 | Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him. | A farizeusok pedig kimenvén, tanácsot tartának ellene, hogyan veszíthetnék el õt. |
| 15 | But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all. | Jézus pedig észrevévén ezt, eltávozék onnan. És követé õt nagy sokaság, és õ meggyógyítja vala mindnyájokat; |
| 16 | And charged them that they should not make him known: | És megfenyegeté õket, hogy õt ismertté ne tegyék; |
| 17 | That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, | Hogy beteljesedjék Ésaiás próféta mondása, a ki így szólt: |
| 18 | Behold, my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall show judgment to the Gentiles. | Ímé az én szolgám, a kit választottam; az én szerelmesem, a kiben az én lelkem kedvét lelé; lelkemet adom õ belé, és ítéletet hirdet a pogányoknak. |
| 19 | He shall not contend, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets. | Nem verseng, és nem kiált; az utczákon senki nem hallja szavát. |
| 20 | A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he shall send forth judgment to victory. | A megrepedezett nádat nem töri el, és a pislogó gyertyabelet nem oltja ki, mígnem diadalomra viszi az ítéletet. |
| 21 | And in his name shall the Gentiles trust. | És az õ nevében reménykednek majd a pogányok. |
| 22 | Then was brought to him one possessed with a demon, blind and dumb; and he healed him, so that the blind and dumb both spoke and saw. | Akkor egy vak és néma ördöngõst hoztak õ eléje; és meggyógyítá azt, annyira, hogy a vak és néma mind beszél, mind lát vala. |
| 23 | And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? | És elálmélkodék az egész sokaság, és monda: Vajjon nem ez-é Dávidnak ama Fia? |
| 24 | But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This man doth not cast out demons, but by Beelzebub the prince of the demons. | A farizeusok pedig ezt hallván, mondának: Ez nem ûzi ki az ördögöket, hanemha Belzebubbal, az ördögök fejedelmével. |
| 25 | And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself, is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself, shall not stand. | Jézus pedig, tudva az õ gondolataikat, monda nékik: Minden ország, a mely magával meghasonlik, elpusztul; és egy város vagy háznép sem állhat meg, a mely meghasonlik magával. |
| 26 | And if Satan casteth out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom stand? | Ha pedig a Sátán a Sátánt ûzi ki, önmagával hasonlott meg; mimódon állhat meg tehát az õ országa? |
| 27 | And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your children expel them? therefore they shall be your judges. | És ha én Belzebub által ûzöm ki az ördögöket, a ti fiaitok ki által ûzik ki? Azért õk magok lesznek a ti bíráitok. |
| 28 | But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come to you. | Ha pedig én Istennek Lelke által ûzöm ki az ördögöket, akkor kétség nélkül elérkezett hozzátok az Isten országa. |
| 29 | Or else, how can one enter into a strong man's house, and seize his goods, except he shall first bind the strong man? and then he will plunder his house. | Avagy mi módon mehet be valaki a hatalmasnak házába és rabolhatja el annak kincseit, hanemha megkötözi elõbb a hatalmast és akkor rabolja ki annak házát? |
| 30 | He that is not with me, is against me; and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth abroad. | A ki velem nincsen, ellenem van; és a ki velem nem gyûjt, tékozol. |
| 31 | Wherefore I say to you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven to men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven to men. | Azt mondom azért néktek: Minden bûn és káromlás megbocsáttatik az embereknek; de a Lélek káromlása nem bocsáttatik meg az embereknek. |
| 32 | And whoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whoever speaketh against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. | Még a ki az ember Fia ellen szól, annak is megbocsáttatik; de a ki a Szent Lélek ellen szól, annak sem ezen, sem a más világon meg nem bocsáttatik. |
| 33 | Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and its fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by its fruit. | Vagy legyetek jó fák, és teremjetek jó gyümölcsöt, vagy legyetek romlott fák, és teremjetek romlott gyümölcsöt; mert gyümölcsérõl ismerik meg a fát. |
| 34 | O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh. | Mérges kígyóknak fajzatai, mi módon szólhattok jókat, holott gonoszak vagytok? Mert a szívnek teljességébõl szól a száj. |
| 35 | A good man, out of the good treasure of the heart, bringeth forth good things: and an evil man, out of the evil treasure, bringeth forth evil things. | A jó ember az õ szívének jó kincseibõl hozza elõ a jókat; és a gonosz ember az õ szívének gonosz kincseibõl hozza elõ a gonoszokat. |
| 36 | But I say to you, That for every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account in the day of judgment. | De mondom néktek: Minden hivalkodó beszédért, a mit beszélnek az emberek, számot adnak majd az ítélet napján. |
| 37 | For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. | Mert a te beszédidbõl ismertetel igaznak, és a te beszédidbõl ismertetel hamisnak. |
| 38 | Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. | Ekkor felelének néki némelyek az írástudók és farizeusok közül, mondván: Mester, jelt akarnánk látni te tõled. |
| 39 | But he answered and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh for a sign, and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. | Õ pedig felelvén, monda nékik: E gonosz és parázna nemzetség jelt kiván; és nem adatik jel néki, hanemha Jónás prófétának jele. |
| 40 | For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly: so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. | Mert a miképen Jónás három éjjel és három nap volt a czethal gyomrában, azonképen az embernek Fia is három nap és három éjjel lesz a föld gyomrában. |

| 43 | When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and he findeth none. | Mikor pedig a tisztátalan lélek kimegy az emberbõl, víz nélkül való helyeken jár, nyugalmat keresve, és nem talál: |
| 44 | Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. | Akkor ezt mondja: Visszatérek az én házamba, a honnét kijöttem. És oda menvén, üresen, kisöpörve és fölékesítve találja azt. |
| 45 | Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also to this wicked generation. | Akkor elmegy és vesz maga mellé más hét lelket, gonoszabbakat õ magánál, és bemenvén, ott lakoznak; és ennek az embernek utolsó állapotja gonoszabb lesz az elsõnél. Így lesz ezzel a gonosz nemzetséggel is. |
| 46 | While he was yet speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. | Mikor pedig még szóla a sokaságnak, ímé az õ anyja és az õ testvérei állanak vala odakünn, akarván õ vele szólni. |
| 47 | Then one said to him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. | És monda néki valaki: Ímé a te anyád és testvéreid odakünn állanak, és szólni akarnak veled. |
| 48 | But he answered and said to him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? | Õ pedig felelvén, monda a hozzá szólónak: Kicsoda az én anyám; és kik az én testvéreim? |
| 49 | And he stretched forth his hand towards his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! | És kinyujtván kezét az õ tanítványaira, monda: Ímé az én anyám és az én testvéreim! |
| 50 | For whoever shall do the will of my Father who is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. | Mert a ki cselekszi az én mennyei Atyám akaratát, az nékem fitestvérem, nõtestvérem és anyám. |
