| 4 | And the LORD said to Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel. | És monda az Úr Mózesnek: Vedd elõ e népnek minden fõemberét, és akasztasd fel õket az Úrnak fényes nappal; hogy elforduljon az Úr haragjának gerjedezése Izráeltõl. |

| 7 | And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand; | És mikor látta vala Fineás, Eleázár fia, Áron papnak unokája, felkele a gyülekezet közül, és dárdáját vevé kezébe. |
| 8 | And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly: So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel. | És beméne az izráelita férfi után a sátorba, és általdöfé mindkettõjöket, mind az izráelita férfit, mind az asszonyt hason. És megszünék a csapás Izráel fiai között. |
| 9 | And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand. | De meghaltak vala a csapás miatt huszonnégy ezeren. |

| 11 | Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, (while he was zealous for my sake among them,) that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy. | Fineás, Eleázár fia, Áron pap unokája, elfordította az én haragomat Izráel fiaitól, mivelhogy az én bosszúmat megállotta õ közöttök; ezért nem pusztítom ki bosszúmban Izráel fiait. |
| 12 | Wherefore say, Behold, I give to him my covenant of peace. | Mondd azért: Ímé én az én szövetségemet, a békesség [szövetségét] adom õ néki. |
| 13 | And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel. | És lészen õ nála és az õ magvánál õ utána az örökkévaló papságnak szövetsége; mivelhogy bosszút állott az õ Istenéért, és engesztelést végze Izráel fiaiért. |
| 14 | Now the name of the Israelite that was slain, even that was slain with the Midianitish woman, was Zimri, the son of Salu, a prince of a chief house among the Simeonites. | A megöletett izráelita férfinak neve pedig, a ki a midiánbeli asszonynyal együtt öletett meg, Zimri, a Szálu fia vala, a Simeon- nemzetség háznépének fejedelme. |
| 15 mapa | And the name of the Midianitish woman that was slain was Cozbi the daughter of Zur; he was head over a people, and of a chief house in Midian. | A megöletett midiánbeli asszony neve pedig Kozbi, Czúr leánya, a ki a Midiániták között az õ atyja háza nemzetségeinek fejedelme vala. |

| 17 | Distress the Midianites, and smite them: | Támadjátok meg a Midiánitákat, és verjétek meg õket, |
| 18 mapa | For they distress you with their wiles, with which they have beguiled you in the matter of Peor, and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of a prince of Midian their sister, who was slain in the day of the plague for Peor's sake. | Mert õk megtámadtak titeket az õ cselszövéseikkel, a melyeket Peórért és az õ hugokért Kozbiért, a midián fejedelem leányáért szõttek ellenetek, a ki megöletett a Peór miatt való csapásnak napján. |
