1. Fidelidade no preparo anônimo

And Samuel said unto Jesse: 'Are here all thy children?' And he said: 'There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep.' And Samuel said unto Jesse: 'Send and fetch him; for we will not sit down till he come hither.' And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of beautiful eyes, and goodly to look upon. And the LORD said: 'Arise, anoint him; for this is he.' Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren; and the spirit of the LORD came mightily upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.(1 Samuel 16:11-13)

2. Coragem fundamentada na confiança em Deus

Then said David to the Philistine: 'Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a javelin; but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast taunted.(1 Samuel 17:45)

3. Prudência e integridade no sucesso

And David had great success in all his ways; and the LORD was with him.(1 Samuel 18:14)

4. Paciência para respeitar o tempo certo

(24-7) And he said unto his men: 'The LORD forbid it me, that I should do this thing unto my lord, the LORD’S anointed, to put forth my hand against him, seeing he is the LORD’S anointed.'(1 Samuel 24:6)

5. Habilidade de pacificar e unir a nação

Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spoke, saying: 'Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh. In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was thou that didst lead out and bring in Israel; and the LORD said to thee: Thou shalt feed My people Israel, and thou shalt be prince over Israel.' So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD; and they anointed David king over Israel.(2 Samuel 5:1-3)

6. Arrependimento e quebrantamento genuíno

(51-12) Create me a clean heart, O God; and renew a stedfast spirit within me.(Psalms 51:10)

7. Preocupação com o legado e a continuidade

Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying: 'I go the way of all the earth; be thou strong therefore, and show thyself a man; and keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, and His commandments, and His ordinances, and His testimonies, according to that which is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself; that the LORD may establish His word which He spoke concerning me, saying: If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee, said He, a man on the throne of Israel.(1 Kings 2:1-4)
