12 *For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; *for the same Lord is Lord of all, *bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13 For *"everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him *of whom they have never heard?* And how are they to hear *without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, *"How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!" 16 But *they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, *"Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?" 17 So *faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

2 Let me ask you only this: *Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by *hearing with faith?

13 In him you also, when you heard *the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, *were sealed with the *promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is *the guarantee* of our *inheritance until *we acquire *possession of it,**to the praise of his glory.

24 Truly, truly, I say to you, *whoever hears my word and *believes him who sent me has eternal life. He *does not come into judgment, but *has passed from death to life.

25 "Truly, truly, I say to you, *an hour is coming, and is now here, when *the dead will hear *the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear *will live.

44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me *draws him. And *I will raise him up on the last day.45 It is written in the Prophets, *‘And they will all be *taught by God.’ *Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me—46 *not that anyone has seen the Father except *he who is from God; he *has seen the Father.47 Truly, truly, I say to you, *whoever believes has eternal life.

28 But he said, *"Blessed rather are those *who hear the word of God and *keep it!"

23 *If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear."

15 And he said to them, *"Go into all the world and *proclaim the gospel to *the whole creation.

14 Indeed, in their case the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled that says:

*"‘"You will indeed hear but never understand,

and you will indeed see but never perceive."

15 For this people’s heart has grown dull,

and with their ears*they can barely hear,

and*their eyes they have closed,

lest they should see with their eyes

and hear with their ears

and*understand with their heart

and *turn, and I would heal them.’

16 But *blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear.

What Defiles a Person

10 And he called the people to him and said to them, *"Hear and understand:

3 Incline your ear, and come to me;

*hear, that your soul may live;

*and I will make with you an everlasting covenant,

*my steadfast, sure love for *David.

9 And he said, "Go, and say to this people:

*"‘Keep on hearing,* but do not understand;

keep on seeing,* but do not perceive.’

10 *Make the heart of this people *dull,*

and their ears heavy,

and blind their eyes;

*lest they see with their eyes,

and hear with their ears,

and understand with their hearts,

and turn and be healed."

3 At the same time, pray also for us, that God may *open to us a door for the word, *to declare the mystery of Christ, *on account of which I am in prison—
