O temor do Senhor é o princípio da sabedoria. A admiração reverente por Deus é a postura que produz conhecimento, obediência e bênção na vida do crente.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
And there is good understanding to all that practice it:
And piety toward God is the beginning of discernment;
But the ungodly will set at nought wisdom and instruction.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
And the counsel of saints is understanding:
For to know the law is the character of a sound mind.
The fear of the Lord is instruction and wisdom;
And the highest honor will correspond therewith.
Better is a small portion with the fear of the Lord,
Than great treasures without the fear of the Lord.
The fear of the Lord hates unrighteousness,
And insolence, and pride, and the ways of wicked men;
And I hate the perverse ways of bad men.
The fear of the Lord is the offspring of wisdom,
And wealth, and glory, and life.
Be not wise in thine own conceit;
But fear God, and depart from all evil.
Then shall there be health to thy body,
And good keeping to thy bones.
Charms are false, and woman’s beauty is vain:
For it is a wise woman that is blessed,
And let her praise the fear of the Lord.
Hear the end of the matter, the sum:
Fear God, and keep his commandments:
For this is the whole man.
The sinner shall see and be angry,
He shall gnash his teeth, and consume away:
The desire of the sinner shall perish.

Many a time have they warred against me from my youth,
Let Israel now say:
And delivered them out of all their afflictions.
God settles the solitary in a house;
Leading forth prisoners mightily,
Also them that act provokingly, even them that dwell in tombs.
And now, Israel, what does the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, and to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul; to keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and his ordinances, all that I charge thee today, that it may be well with thee?
ye shall not hearken to the words of that prophet, or the dreamer of that dream, because the Lord thy God tries you, to know whether ye love your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
And as the midwives feared God, they established for themselves families.
Mercy has rejected me;
And the visitation of the Lord has disregarded me.
