O adultério

14 Do not commit adultery.  *

10 "If a man commits adultery  * with a married woman — if he commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife — both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death.

no one who touches her will go unpunished.  *

Adultery Begins in the Heart

27 "You have heard that it was said, Do not commit adultery.*,*28 But I tell you, everyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.*

32 But I tell you, everyone who divorces his wife, except in a case of sexual immorality, causes her to commit adultery. And whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.*

19 For from the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual immoralities, thefts, false testimonies,*slander.*

11 He said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife*and marries*another commits adultery*against her.12 Also, if she divorces her husband*and marries another, she commits adultery."

18 "Everyone*who divorces*his wife and marries another woman commits adultery,*and everyone who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery.

4 "Teacher," they said to him, "this woman was caught in the act of committing adultery.  *5 In the law Moses  * commanded us to stone such women.  * So what do you say? " 6 They asked this to trap him,  * in order that they might have evidence to accuse him.

Jesus stooped down and started writing on the ground with his finger. 7 When they persisted in questioning him, he stood up and said to them, "The one without sin*among you*should be the first to throw a stone at her."*8 Then he stooped down again and continued writing on the ground. 9 When they heard this, they left one by one, starting with the older men. Only he was left, with the woman in the center. 10 When Jesus stood up, he said to her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you? "

11 "No one, Lord,"  * she answered.

"Neither do I condemn you,"* said Jesus. "Go, and from now on do not sin anymore."]

and your years to someone cruel;

and your hard-earned pay will end up in a foreigner’s house.

11 At the end of your life, you will lament

when your physical body has been consumed,

12 and you will say, "How I hated discipline,

and how my heart despised correction.  *

13 I didn’t obey my teachers

or listen closely  * to my instructors.

14 I am on the verge of complete ruin

before the entire community."

19 A loving deer, a graceful doe  *  —

let her breasts always satisfy you;  *

be lost in her love forever.

20 Why, my son, would you lose yourself

with a forbidden woman

or embrace a wayward woman?  *

18 for her house sinks down to death

and her ways to the land of the departed spirits.  *

19 None return who go to her;

none reach the paths of life.  *

14 The mouth of the forbidden woman is a deep pit;

a man cursed by the  Lord will fall into it.  *

18 Flee  * sexual immorality! Every other sin  * a person commits is outside the body, but the person who is sexually immoral  * sins against his own body.

The Spirit versus the Flesh

16 I say, then, walk by the Spirit  * and you will certainly not carry out the desire of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires  * what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you don’t do what you want.  *

19 Now the works of the flesh are obvious:  * sexual immorality,  * moral impurity,  * promiscuity,  *20 idolatry,  * sorcery,  * hatreds,  * strife,  * jealousy,  * outbursts of anger,  * selfish ambitions,  * dissensions,  * factions,  *21 envy,  *,* drunkenness, carousing,  * and anything similar. I am warning you about these things — as I warned you before — that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.  *

4 Marriage is to be honored by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, because God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.  *

3 For this is God’s will,  * your sanctification:  * that you keep away  * from sexual immorality, 4 that each of you knows how to control his own body  * in holiness and honor, 5 not with lustful passions,  * like the Gentiles, who don’t know God.

4 You adulterous people!  * Don’t you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? So whoever wants to be the friend of the world becomes the enemy of God.  *

21 I gave her time to repent,*but she does not want to repent of her sexual immorality.*22 Look, I will throw her into a sickbed*and those who commit adultery with her*into great affliction.*Unless they repent of her*works,
