Ajuda ao próximo
Ajudar o próximo é mandamento de Deus e expressão prática da fé. A Bíblia ensina que a fé sem obras é morta — e que servir ao menor dos irmãos é servir a Cristo.
When I was hungry, you gave me something to eat, and when I was thirsty, you gave me something to drink. When I was a stranger, you welcomed me, and when I was naked, you gave me clothes to wear. When I was sick, you took care of me, and when I was in jail, you visited me."
Then the ones who pleased the Lord will ask, "When did we give you something to eat or drink? When did we welcome you as a stranger or give you clothes to wear or visit you while you were sick or in jail?"
The king will answer, "Whenever you did it for any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you did it for me."
When people ask you for something, give it to them. When they want to borrow money, lend it to them.
Make your light shine, so others will see the good you do and will praise your Father in heaven.
If you give to others, you will be given a full amount in return. It will be packed down, shaken together, and spilling over into your lap. The way you treat others is the way you will be treated.
The crowds asked John, "What should we do?"
John told them, "If you have two coats, give one to someone who doesn’t have any. If you have food, share it with someone else."
Sell what you have and give the money to the poor. Make yourselves moneybags that never wear out. Make sure your treasure is safe in heaven, where thieves cannot steal it and moths cannot destroy it. Your heart will always be where your treasure is.
Now I tell you to love each other, as I have loved you.
The greatest way to show love for friends is to die for them.
By everything I did, I showed how you should work to help everyone who is weak. Remember that our Lord Jesus said, "More blessings come from giving than from receiving."
After Paul had finished speaking, he knelt down with all of them and prayed. Everyone cried and hugged and kissed him. They were especially sad because Paul had told them, "You will never see me again."
Then they went with him to the ship.
Take care of God’s needy people and welcome strangers into your home.
If our faith is strong, we should be patient with the Lord’s followers whose faith is weak. We should try to please them instead of ourselves.
You obey the law of Christ when you offer each other a helping hand.
If you are a thief, quit stealing. Be honest and work hard, so you will have something to give to people in need.
Care about them as much as you care about yourselves
My friends, what good is it to say you have faith, when you don’t do anything to show you really do have faith? Can this kind of faith save you? If you know someone who doesn’t have any clothes or food, you shouldn’t just say, "I hope all goes well for you. I hope you will be warm and have plenty to eat." What good is it to say this, unless you do something to help? Faith that doesn’t lead us to do good deeds is all alone and dead!
If we have all we need and see one of our own people in need, we must have pity on that person, or else we cannot say we love God.
Caring for the poor
is lending to the Lord,
and you will be well repaid.
There will always be some Israelites who are poor and needy. That’s why I am commanding you to be generous with them.
