O que a Bíblia diz sobre a ajuda ao próximo

Na Bíblia, a ajuda ao próximo não é favor opcional nem mérito pessoal: é a prova concreta da fé genuína. A Escritura ensina que amar a Deus e amar o semelhante são inseparáveis, e que a compaixão precisa se traduzir em atitudes práticas quando nos deparamos com a necessidade de alguém.

14 What [does it] profit, my brethren, though a man say he has faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be [you2f] warmed and filled; notwithstanding you2f give them not those things which are needful to the body; what [does it] profit?

17 Even so faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone.(Jacob 2:14-17)

17 But whoso has this world’s good, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his bowels (inward parts; affections) [of compassion] from him, how dwells the love of God-The Father in him?(1 John 3:17)

Servir ao necessitado é servir ao próprio Cristo

Jesus colocou o cuidado com os vulneráveis no centro do julgamento final. Ao alimentar quem tem fome, vestir quem está nu ou acolher quem passa privação, a igreja não está apenas prestando socorro comunitário — está servindo diretamente a Cristo.

35 "Because I was hungry and you gave me to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me to drink, I was a wayfarer and you took me in",

36 "naked and you clothed me, sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me".

37 "Then the righteous will answer: ‘O our Adon [Lord - Kurios of the earth], when did we see you hungry and satisfied you, thirsty and gave you to drink’",

38 ‘a wayfarer and took you in, naked and clothed you’,

39 ‘sick and visited you, in prison and came to you?’

40 "The King will answer and say to them: ‘Truly I say to you that every time you did it to one of the needy of these my brethren, even the little ones like these, you did it to me’".(Gosel 25:35-40)

No Antigo Testamento, a sabedoria bíblica já apontava para essa mesma dignidade ao afirmar que o Criador assume a causa de quem não tem como retribuir:

17 He that has pity upon the poor lends unto the LORD-Yehōvah [Messiah Pre-Incarnate]; and that which he has given will he pay him again.(Mishlei - Proverbs 19:17)

Repartir com desprendimento no cotidiano

A partilha bíblica não espera a abundância para acontecer. Quando as multidões perguntavam a João Batista o que deveriam fazer em resposta à mensagem de Deus, a instrução foi direta: dividir as roupas e a comida que tinham em mãos.

10 And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?

11 He answer and says unto them, He that has two coats, let him impart to him that has none; and he that has meat, let him do likewise.(Luke 3:10,11)

33 Sell that you2f have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which grow (become; advance) not old, a treasure in the heavens that fails not, where no thief approaches, neither moth corrupts.

34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.(Luke 12:33,34)

Jesus reforçou a disposição constante de atender ao pedido de quem recorre a nós:

42 "To him who asks from you give and from him who wishes to borrow from you do not hold back".(Gosel 5:42)

O dever de acudir os pobres também é contínuo porque a necessidade humana nunca cessa na história:

11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command youi, saying, youi shall open youi hand wide unto youi brother, to youi poor, and to youi needy, in youi land.(Deuteronomy 15:11)

O apóstolo Paulo orienta que até o próprio trabalho honesto tem, entre seus objetivos mais nobres, a capacidade de gerar sustento para acudir o outro:

28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with [his] hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needs.(Ephesians 4:28)

Levar as cargas uns dos outros na comunidade

Ajudar o próximo não se resume a recursos financeiros e materiais. Envolve tempo, escuta e disposição para carregar pesos emocionais, espirituais e apoiar quem está enfraquecido na caminhada diária.

2 Bear you2f one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Moshiach [Messiah].(Galatians 6:2)

1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.(Romans 15:1)

4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.(Philippians 2:4)

13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.(Romans 12:13)

O amor sacrifical e o testemunho público da fé

O padrão supremo de ajuda e doação é o próprio sacrifício de Jesus na cruz. Quando os discípulos vivem esse padrão na prática, o socorro prestado ao necessitado se torna testemunho do próprio caráter de Deus diante do mundo.

12 This is my commandment, That you2f love one another, as I have loved you.(John 15:12)

13 Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.(John 15:13)

16 "Thus let your light shine before every man to show them your good deeds which give praise and glory to your Father Who is in heaven".(Gosel 5:16)

A postura de generosidade transforma o coração de quem a pratica, trazendo a convicção ensinada pelo próprio Senhor:

35 I have showed you all things, how that so labouring you2f ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord - Kurios [he to whom a person belongs] Yeshua [God is Salvation], how he said, It is more Blessed (Favored by God; happy; prosperous) to give than to receive.

36 And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all.

37 And they all wept sore, and fell on Sha’ul [desired]’s neck, and kissed him,

38 Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spoke, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.(Acts 20:35-38)

38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you2f measure (deal out) withal it shall be measured to you again.(Luke 6:38)
