2 My help comes from the  Lord,

the Maker of heaven and earth.  *

God Our Refuge

1 God is our refuge and strength,

a helper who is always found

in times of trouble.  *

4 God is my helper;

the Lord is the sustainer of my life.  *,*

39 The salvation of the righteous is from the  Lord,

their refuge in a time of distress.  *

40 The Lord helps and delivers them;

he will deliver them from the wicked and will save them

because they take refuge in him.  *

22 Hurry to help me,

my Lord, my salvation.  *

9 God of our salvation, help us,  *

for the glory of your name.

Rescue us and atone for our sins,

for your name’s sake.  *

6 Blessed be the Lord,

for he has heard the sound of my pleading.  *

7 The Lord is my strength and my shield;

my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.  *

Therefore my heart celebrates,

and I give thanks to him with my song.  *

17 If the Lord had not been my helper,

I would soon rest in the silence of death.  *

13 For I am the Lord your God,  *

who holds your right hand,

who says to you, "Do not fear,

I will help you.

36 You have given me the shield of your salvation;  *

your help  * exalts me.

28 "Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.*

16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor*,*to be with you forever.

26 In the same way the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should,  * but the Spirit himself intercedes for us  *,* with inexpressible groanings. 27 And he who searches our hearts  * knows the mind of the Spirit, because he intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,  *

and do not rely on your own understanding;  *

6 in all your ways know him,

and he will make your paths straight.  *

7 casting all your cares on him, because he cares about you.  *
