8 Then God said to Noah and his sons with him, 9 "Understand that I am establishing my covenant  * with you and your descendants after you, 10 and with every living creature that is with you — birds, livestock, and all wildlife of the earth that are with you — all the animals of the earth that came out of the ark. 11 I establish my covenant with you that never again will every creature be wiped out by floodwaters; there will never again be a flood to destroy the earth."  *

6 So Moses spoke to the Israelites, and each of their leaders gave him a staff, one for each of the leaders of their tribes, twelve staffs in all. Aaron’s staff was among them.  *7 Moses placed the staffs before the Lord in the tent of the testimony.

8 The next day Moses entered the tent of the testimony and saw that Aaron’s staff, representing the house of Levi, had sprouted, formed buds, blossomed, and produced almonds! 9 Moses then brought out all the staffs from the Lord’s presence to all the Israelites. They saw them, and each man took his own staff. 10 The Lord told Moses, "Put Aaron’s staff back in front of the testimony to be kept as a sign  * for the rebels, so that you may put an end to their complaints before me, or else they will die."  *11 So Moses did as the Lord commanded him.

12 The Israelites again did what was evil in the Lord’s sight. He gave King Eglon of Moab  * power over Israel, because they had done what was evil in the Lord’s sight. 13 After Eglon convinced the Ammonites and the Amalekites to join forces with him, he attacked and defeated Israel and took possession of the City of Palms.  *,*

If that could happen, then he would not have a son reigning on his throne and the Levitical priests would not be my ministers.  *
