8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him, 9 "Behold, *I establish my covenant with you and your offspring after you, 10 and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the livestock, and every beast of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark; it is for every beast of the earth. 11 *I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth." 12 And God said, *"This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: 13 I have set *my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.

And the staff of Aaron was among their staffs. 7 And Moses deposited the staffs before the Lord in *the tent of the testimony.

8 On the next day Moses went into the tent of the testimony, and behold, the staff of Aaron for the house of Levi had sprouted and put forth buds and produced blossoms, and it bore ripe almonds. 9 Then Moses brought out all the staffs from before the Lord to all the people of Israel. And they looked, and each man took his staff. 10 And the Lord said to Moses, "Put back *the staff of Aaron before the testimony, to be kept *as a sign for the rebels, *that you may make an end of their grumblings against me, lest they die." 11 Thus did Moses; as the Lord commanded him, so he did.

12 *And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord strengthened Eglon *the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done what was evil in the sight of the Lord. 13 He gathered to himself the Ammonites and the *Amalekites, and went and defeated Israel. And they took possession of *the city of palms.
