Amigo
O amigo verdadeiro é dádiva rara de Deus. Ele ama em todo tempo, fala a verdade em amor, aconselha com sabedoria e permanece fiel nas adversidades da vida.
Amizade verdadeira
Há amigo mais chegado que um irmão. Em todo tempo ama o amigo. O perfume e o incenso alegram o coração — assim o conselho doce do amigo.
Have thou a friend for every time,
And let brethren be useful in distress;
For on this account are they born.
The heart delights in ointments and wines and perfumes:
But the soul is broken by calamities.
Iron sharpens iron;
And a man sharpens his friend’s countenance.
Open reproofs are better than secret love.
The wounds of a friend are more to be trusted
Than the spontaneous kisses of an enemy.
Thine own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not;
And when thou art in distress go not into thy brother’s house:
Better is a friend that is near than a brother living far off.
If thou walkest with wise men thou shalt be wise:
But he that walks with fools shall be known.
Be not companion to a furious man;
Neither lodge with a passionate man:
Lest thou learn of his ways,
And get snares to thy soul.
A man is valuable, and a merciful man precious:
But it is hard to find a faithful man.
Wealth acquires many friends;
But the poor is deserted even of the friend he has.
Jesus, o amigo
Two are better than one,
Seeing they have a good reward for their labor.
For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow:
But woe to him that is alone when he falls,
And there is not a second to lift him up.
A Song of Degrees.
Behold now, bless ye the Lord,
All the servants of the Lord,
Who stand in the house of the Lord,
In the courts of the house of our God.
Lift up your hands by night in the sanctuaries,
And bless the Lord.
May the Lord, who made heaven and earth,
Bless thee out of Zion.
