O amigo verdadeiro é dádiva rara de Deus. Ele ama em todo tempo, fala a verdade em amor, aconselha com sabedoria e permanece fiel nas adversidades da vida.
Amizade verdadeira
Há amigo mais chegado que um irmão. Em todo tempo ama o amigo. O perfume e o incenso alegram o coração — assim o conselho doce do amigo.
A person of too many friends comes to ruin,
But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
A friend loves at all times,
And a brother is born for adversity.
Oil and perfume make the heart glad,
And a person’s advice is sweet to his friend.
As iron sharpens iron,
So one person sharpens another.
Better is open rebuke
Than love that is concealed.
Faithful are the wounds of a friend,
But deceitful are the kisses of an enemy.
Do not abandon your friend or your father’s friend,
And do not go to your brother’s house on the day of your disaster;
Better is a neighbor who is near than a brother far away.
One who walks with wise people will be wise,
But a companion of fools will suffer harm.
Do not make friends with a person given to anger,
Or go with a hot-tempered person,
Or you will learn his ways
And find a snare for yourself.
Many a person proclaims his own loyalty,
But who can find a trustworthy person?
Wealth adds many friends,
But a poor person is separated from his friend.
Jesus, o amigo
Já não vos chamo servos, mas amigos. O maior amor é dar a vida pelo amigo. Jesus é o amigo que nunca falha.
Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends.You are My friends if you do what I command you.No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, because all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.
Disciples’ Relation to Each Other
"This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God remains in us, and His love is perfected in us.
We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers and sisters.But whoever has worldly goods and sees his brother or sister in need, and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God remain in him? Little children, let’s not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.
and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "And Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called a friend of God.
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor,
Companheiros de fé
Dois são melhores do que um. Os companheiros de fé se fortalecem mutuamente e caminham juntos com o Senhor.
Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor; for if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up!
The Excellency of Brotherly Unity.
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brothers to live together in unity!
It is like the precious oil on the head,
Running down upon the beard,
As on Aaron’s beard,
The oil which ran down upon the edge of his robes.
It is like the dew of Hermon
Coming down upon the mountains of Zion;
For the Lord commanded the blessing there—life forever.
I am a companion to all those who fear You,
And to those who keep Your precepts.
Then Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself.
Do not be deceived: "Bad company corrupts good morals."
