34 *But I am giving you a new command. You must love each other, just as I have loved you. 35 If you love each other, everyone will know that you are my disciples.

12 *Now I tell you to love each other, as I have loved you.

13 The greatest way to show love for friends is to die for them.

11 *From the beginning you were told we must love each other.

14 *Our love for each other proves we have gone from death to life. But if you don’t love each other, you are still under the power of death.

16 We know what love is because Jesus gave his life for us. This is why we must give our lives for each other. 17 If we have all we need and see one of our own people in need, we must have pity on that person, or else we cannot say we love God. 18 Children, you show love for others by truly helping them, and not merely by talking about it.

7 My dear friends, we must love each other. Love comes from God, and when we love each other, it shows we have been given new life. We are now God’s children, and we know him.

10 Real love isn’t our love for God, but his love for us. God sent his Son to be the sacrifice by which our sins are forgiven. 11 Dear friends, since God loved us this much, we must love each other.

12 *No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is truly in our hearts.

20 But if we say we love God and don’t love each other, we are liars. We cannot see God. So how can we love God, if we don’t love the people we can see? 21 The commandment that God has given us is: "Love God and love each other!"

10 Love each other as brothers and sisters and honor others more than you do yourself.

8 Let love be your only debt! If you love others, you have done all that the Law demands.

8 Finally, all of you should agree and have concern and love for each other. You should also be kind and humble.

8 *Most important of all, you must sincerely love each other, because love wipes away many sins.

9 We don’t have to write you about the need to love each other. God has taught you to do this,

1 Keep being concerned about each other as the Lord’s followers should.

2 *Be sure to welcome strangers into your home. By doing this, some people have welcomed angels as guests, without even knowing it.

3 Remember the Lord’s people who are in jail and be concerned for them. Don’t forget those who are suffering, but imagine you are there with them.

14 Love is more important than anything else. It is what ties everything completely together.

37 *Jesus answered:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. 38 This is the first and most important commandment. 39 *The second most important commandment is like this one. And it is, "Love others as much as you love yourself."

8 *You will do all right, if you obey the most important law* in the Scriptures. It is the law that commands us to love others as much as we love ourselves.
