O que é amor fraternal segundo a Bíblia
Amor fraternal é o compromisso prático de cuidar, honrar e servir aos irmãos na fé como membros de uma mesma família. No Novo Testamento, a palavra usada para definir esse vínculo é philadelphia — termo grego que descrevia o afeto entre irmãos de sangue, mas que Jesus e os apóstolos aplicaram à convivência diária entre os cristãos.
Esse amor não nasce de simpatia natural ou interesses em comum. É uma decisão diária de tratar o outro com a mesma graça que Deus demonstrou na cruz, servindo de testemunho visível do Evangelho diante do mundo.
A new commandment I give unto you, That you2f love one another; as I have loved you, that you2f also love one another.
By this shall all [men] know that you2f are my disciples, if you2f have love one to another.(John 13:34,35)
This is my commandment, That you2f love one another, as I have loved you.(John 15:12)
Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.(John 15:13)
But as touching brotherly love you2f need not that I write unto you: for you2f yourselves are taught of God-The Father to love one another.(1 Thessalonians 4:9)
A prova prática da fé
A Primeira Carta de João insiste que o amor fraternal é a medida real da vida com Deus. Não há como sustentar uma comunhão íntima com o Criador invisível enquanto se negligencia o irmão visível na igreja ou na comunidade.
Mais do que boas intenções ou palavras afetuosas, esse amor se comprova no socorro concreto a quem enfrenta necessidades materiais ou espirituais.
We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loves not [his] brother abides in death.(1 John 3:14)
Hereby perceive we the love [of God-The Father], because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down [our] lives for the brethren.
But whoso has this world’s good, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his bowels (inward parts; affections) [of compassion] from him, how dwells the love of God-The Father in him?
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.(1 John 3:16-18)
If a man say, I love God-The Father, and hates his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God-The Father whom he has not seen?
And this commandment have we from him, That he who loves God-The Father love his brother also.(1 John 4:20,21)
Como praticar o amor fraternal no dia a dia
Nas cartas do Novo Testamento, o amor entre irmãos ganha forma em atitudes bem específicas: paciência com as falhas alheias, disposição para perdoar, hospitalidade e preferência pelo bem do outro antes do próprio.
Quando os cristãos escolhem cobrir ofensas com perdão e abrir as portas a quem precisa de amparo, o amor fraternal deixa de ser um conceito abstrato e cumpre a lei de Cristo.
[Be] kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;(Romans 12:10)
Let brotherly love continue.
Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; [and] them which suffer (allow, to let, permit) adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.(Hebrews 13:1-3)
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.(1 Peter 4:8)
And above all these things [put on] charity, which is the bond of perfectness.(Colossians 3:14)
He said to him: "Thou shalt love Yehovah [Messiah Pre-Incarnate] your Elohim (The Many Powered) [The Living Word of God] with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength".
