8 But God proves  * his own love for us  * in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

7 For rarely will someone die for a just person — though for a good person perhaps someone might even dare to die. 8 But God proves  * his own love for us  * in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

23 For all have sinned  * and fall short of the  * glory of God; 24 they are justified freely by his grace  * through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.  *

35 Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Can affliction  * or distress or persecution  * or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

16 For God loved*the world in this way:*He gave*his one and only*Son,*so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.*

3 We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly  * desires, carrying out the inclinations  * of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath  * as the others were also. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy,  * because of his great love  * that he had for us,  *5 made us alive  * with Christ even though we were dead  * in trespasses. You are saved by grace!

4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love for mankind appeared,  *5 he saved us  *  — not by works of righteousness that we had done,  * but according to his mercy  *  — through the washing of regeneration  * and renewal by the Holy Spirit.  *6 He poured out his Spirit on us abundantly  * through Jesus Christ our Savior

3 the Lord appeared to him  * from far away.

I have loved you with an everlasting love;  *

therefore, I have continued to extend faithful love to you.  *

26 Give thanks to the God of heaven!  *

His faithful love endures forever.

5 Lord, your faithful love reaches to heaven,

your faithfulness to the clouds.  *

17 A friend loves at all times,  *

and a brother is born for a difficult time.

9 God’s love was revealed among us  * in this way: God sent  * his one and only Son  * into the world so that we might live  * through him.

10 Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that he loved us  * and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice  *,* for our sins.

19 We love  * because he first loved us.  *

16 This is how we have come to know love: He laid down his life  * for us.  * We should also lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.  *

4 Love is patient,  * love is kind. Love does not envy,  * is not boastful, is not arrogant,  *5 is not rude, is not self-seeking,  * is not irritable,  * and does not keep a record of wrongs.

6 Love finds no joy in unrighteousness but rejoices in the truth.  *7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures  * all things.

Love Your Enemies

43 "You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor*,*and hate your enemy.44 But I tell you, love your enemies*and pray for those who*persecute you,*45 so that you may be*children of your Father in heaven. For he causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.*46 For if you love those who love you, what reward will you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?47 And if you greet only your brothers and sisters, what are you doing out of the ordinary?*,*Don’t even the Gentiles*do the same?48 Be perfect,*therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

27 "But I say to you who listen: Love your enemies, do what is good to those who hate you,28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.*

8 Above all, maintain constant love  * for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins.*,*
