14 I will praise you

because I have been remarkably and wondrously made.  *,*

Your works are wondrous,

and I know this very well.  *

17 God, how precious  * your thoughts are to me;

how vast their sum is!

18 If I counted them,

they would outnumber the grains of sand;  *

when I wake up,  * I am still with you.  *

3 When I observe your heavens,

the work of your fingers,

the moon and the stars,

which you set in place,  *

4 what is a human being that you remember him,

a son of man  * that you look after him?  *

5 You made him little less than God  *,*

and crowned him with glory and honor.

7 He raises the poor from the dust

and lifts the needy from the trash heap  *

8 in order to seat them with nobles —

with the nobles of his people.  *

7 But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or his stature because I have rejected him. Humans do not see what the Lord sees,  * for humans see what is visible, but the Lord sees the heart."  *

9 But you are a chosen race,*,*,*a royal priesthood,*,*a holy nation,*,*a people for his possession,*,*so that you may proclaim the praises*,*,* of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.  *

6 Aren’t five sparrows sold for two pennies?*Yet not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight.*7 Indeed, the hairs of your head are all counted. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

3 For by the grace  * given to me, I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think.  * Instead, think sensibly, as God has distributed a measure of faith  * to each one.
