O que a Bíblia ensina sobre o amor

Na Bíblia, o amor não é apenas uma emoção passageira, mas uma decisão voluntária e prática de buscar o bem do outro. A Escritura apresenta o amor como o próprio fundamento do caráter de Deus e a base de todos os mandamentos que orientam a vida humana.

No texto bíblico, amar envolve atitude antes de sentimento. Quem ama perdoa ofensas, renuncia ao próprio interesse quando necessário e cuida de quem precisa, refletindo a forma como o próprio Deus tratou a humanidade.

Deus como origem e definição do amor

O apóstolo João resume a natureza divina em uma afirmação direta: Deus é amor. Isso significa que o amor não é apenas uma qualidade entre muitas em Deus, mas a essência a partir da qual Ele se relaciona com a criação.

A iniciativa pertence sempre a Ele. O ser humano não ama para convencer Deus a ser favorável; ama porque já foi alcançado pelo amor dEle primeiro.

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God-The Father; and every one that loves is born of God-The Father, and knows God-The Father.

8 He that loves not knows not God-The Father; for God-The Father is love.(1 John 4:7,8)

16 And we have known and believed the love that God-The Father has to us. God-The Father is love; and he that dwells in love dwells in God-The Father, and God-The Father in him.(1 John 4:16)

19 We love him, because he first loved us.

20 If a man say, I love God-The Father, and hates his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God-The Father whom he has not seen?(1 John 4:19,20)

16 Hereby perceive we the love [of God-The Father], because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down [our] lives for the brethren.

17 But whoso has this world’s good, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his bowels (inward parts; affections) [of compassion] from him, how dwells the love of God-The Father in him?

18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.(1 John 3:16-18)

O amor demonstrado na cruz

O amor bíblico atinge sua expressão mais clara na morte de Jesus Cristo. Não se trata de uma ideia abstrata, mas de um fato histórico e concreto: Deus enviou seu Filho para reconciliar a humanidade quando ela ainda estava distante dEle.

Por isso, Jesus aponta o sacrifício pessoal como a medida máxima do amor entre as pessoas e dá aos seus discípulos a ordem de se amarem dessa mesma forma.

16 For God-The Father so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.(John 3:16)

8 But God-The Father commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Moshiach [Messiah] died for us.(Romans 5:8)

13 Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.(John 15:13)

34 A new commandment I give unto you, That you2f love one another; as I have loved you, that you2f also love one another.

35 By this shall all [men] know that you2f are my disciples, if you2f have love one to another.(John 13:34,35)

O resumo de toda a lei

Quando os líderes religiosos perguntaram a Jesus qual era o principal mandamento das Escrituras, Ele respondeu unindo duas passagens: amar a Deus com todo o coração e amar o próximo como a si mesmo.

Com isso, Jesus ensinou que toda a ética bíblica depende dessa base. O amor a Deus é incompleto sem o cuidado prático pelo próximo, e o cuidado pelo próximo se estende inclusive àqueles que nos tratam com hostilidade.

37 He said to him: "Thou shalt love Yehovah [Messiah Pre-Incarnate] your Elohim (The Many Powered) [The Living Word of God] with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength".

38 "This is the first and great commandment."

39 "The second is like it: "Thou shalt love your neighbour as yourself"

40 "Upon these two commandments the whole law hangs and the prophets"(Gosel 22:37-40)

12 "Everything you wish that men should do to you, do to them; this is the Torah and the words of the prophets".(Gosel 7:12)

44 "But I say to you, love your enemies, do good to the one who hates you and vexes you and pray for those who persecute you and oppress you",(Gosel 5:44)

As características do amor prático

Em 1 Coríntios 13, o apóstolo Paulo descreve o amor não pelo que ele sente, mas pelo que ele faz e deixa de fazer. O amor se revela na paciência em situações difíceis, na bondade ativa e na recusa em guardar rancor ou buscar vantagens egoístas.

Mesmo os maiores talentos, sacrifícios ou conhecimentos perdem o valor se forem exercidos sem amor, porque o amor é a única coisa que permanece para sempre.

4 Charity suffers long, [and] is kind; charity envies not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

5 Does not behave itself inappropriate, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil;

6 Rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;

7 Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.(1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

13 And now abides faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these [is] charity.(1 Corinthians 13:13)

14 Let all your things be done with charity.(1 Corinthians 16:14)

A certeza de um amor inseparável

A promessa bíblica para quem confia em Deus é que nada na criação pode quebrar o vínculo do seu amor. Perseguição, sofrimento físico, angústia ou a própria morte não têm poder para afastar a pessoa do cuidado que o Pai estabeleceu em Cristo.

Esse mesmo amor seguro capacita os cristãos a viverem em harmonia, suportando defeitos mútuos e cobrindo ofensas com generosidade.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor Principalities (rulers or their territory), nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God-The Father, which is in Moshiach [Messiah] Yeshua [God is Salvation] our Lord - Kurios.(Romans 8:38,39)

9 [Let] love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil; cleave (split open; cut open; divide) to that which is good.

10 [Be] kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;(Romans 12:9,10)

13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Moshiach [Messiah] forgave you, so also [do] you2f.

14 And above all these things [put on] charity, which is the bond of perfectness.(Colossians 3:13,14)

8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.(1 Peter 4:8)
