20 While Joseph was thinking about this, an angel from the Lord appeared to him in a dream. The angel said, "Joseph, the baby that Mary will have is from the Holy Spirit. Go ahead and marry her.

5 The angel said to the women, "Don’t be afraid! I know you are looking for Jesus, who was nailed to a cross. 6 He isn’t here! God has raised him to life, just as Jesus said he would. Come, see the place where his body was lying.

53 Don’t you know that I could ask my Father, and he would at once send me more than twelve armies of angels?

30 Then the angel told Mary, "Don’t be afraid! God is pleased with you, 31 *and you will have a son. His name will be Jesus.

10 But the angel said, "Don’t be afraid! I have good news for you, which will make everyone happy.

14 "Praise God in heaven!

Peace on earth to everyone

who pleases God."

10 Jesus said, "In the same way God’s angels are happy when even one person turns to him."

10 but as he went up, they kept looking up into the sky.

Suddenly two men dressed in white clothes were standing there beside them. 11 They said, "Why are you men from Galilee standing here and looking up into the sky? Jesus has been taken to heaven. But he will come back in the same way you have seen him go."

1 Keep being concerned about each other as the Lord’s followers should.

2 *Be sure to welcome strangers into your home. By doing this, some people have welcomed angels as guests, without even knowing it.

1 What if I could speak

all languages of humans

and even of angels?

If I did not love others,

I would be nothing more

than a noisy gong

or a clanging cymbal.

16 Here is the great mystery of our religion:

Christ* came as a human.

The Spirit proved

that he pleased God,

and he was seen by angels.

Christ was preached

to the nations.

People in this world

put their faith in him,

and he was taken up to glory.

16 *With a loud command and with the shout of the chief angel and a blast of God’s trumpet, the Lord will return from heaven. Then those who had faith in Christ before they died will be raised to life. 17 Next, all of us who are still alive will be taken up into the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the sky. From that time on we will all be with the Lord forever.

5 *Everyone who wins the victory will wear white clothes. Their names will not be erased from the book of life,* and I will tell my Father and his angels that they are my followers.

38 I am sure that nothing can separate us from God’s love—not life or death, not angels or spirits, not the present or the future, 39 and not powers above or powers below. Nothing in all creation can separate us from God’s love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord!
