brothers, I do not reckon myself to have laid hold [of it], but one thing [I do]—indeed forgetting the things behind, and stretching forth to the things before— I pursue to the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Not that I already obtained, or have already been perfected, but I pursue, if I also may lay hold of that for which I was also laid hold of by Christ Jesus; brothers, I do not reckon myself to have laid hold [of it], but one thing [I do]—indeed forgetting the things behind, and stretching forth to the things before— I pursue to the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. As many, therefore, as [are] perfect—let us think this, and if [in] anything you think otherwise, this also will God reveal to you,
so that if anyone [is] in Christ—[he is] a new creature; the old things passed away, behold, all things have become new.
Blessed [is] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to the abundance of His kindness begot us again to a living hope, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ out of the dead,
Create for me a clean heart, O God, || And renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me forth from Your presence, || And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Be silent for YHWH, and stay yourself for Him, || Do not fret because of him || Who is making his way prosperous, || Because of a man doing wicked schemes.
Taste and see that YHWH [is] good, || O the blessedness of the man who trusts in Him.
But those expecting YHWH pass [to] power, || They raise up the pinion as eagles, || They run and are not fatigued, || They go on and do not faint!
For I have known the thoughts that I am thinking toward you—a declaration of YHWH; thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give posterity and hope to you.
And I have sprinkled clean water over you, || And you have been clean; I cleanse you from all your uncleannesses, || And from all your idols. And I have given a new heart to you, || And I give a new spirit in your midst, || And I have turned aside the heart of stone out of your flesh, || And I have given a heart of flesh to you. And I give My Spirit in your midst, || And I have done this, so that you walk in My statutes, || And you keep My judgments, and have done them.
and above all these things, [have] love, which is a bond of the perfection, and let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which you were also called in one body, and become thankful.
The whole He has made beautiful in its season; also, that knowledge He has put in their heart without which man does not find out the work that God has done from the beginning even to the end.
For they, indeed, for a few days, according to what seemed good to them, were disciplining, but He for profit, to be partakers of His separation; and all discipline for the present, indeed, does not seem to be of joy, but of sorrow, yet afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those exercised through it.
Go, now, you who are saying, "Today and tomorrow we will go on to such a city, and will pass there one year, and traffic, and make gain," who does not know the thing of tomorrow; for what is your life? For it is a vapor that is appearing for a little [while], and then is vanishing; instead, you [ought] to say, "If the LORD may will, we will live, and do this or that"; but now you glory in your pride; all such glorying is evil; to him, then, knowing to do good, and not doing [it], it is sin to him.
