13 Brothers and sisters, I do not regard myself as having taken hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

12 Not that I have already *grasped it all or have already become perfect, but I press on if I may also take hold of that *for which I was even taken hold of by Christ Jesus. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not regard myself as having taken hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Therefore, all who are *mature, let’s have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that to you as well;

17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new *creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

10 Create *in me a clean heart, God,

And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

11 Do not cast me away from Your presence,

And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

7 *Rest in the Lord and wait *patiently for Him;

Do not get upset because of one who is successful in his way,

Because of the person who carries out wicked schemes.

8 Taste and see that the Lord is good;

How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!

31 Yet those who *wait for the Lord

Will gain new strength;

They will *mount up with wings like eagles,

They will run and not get tired,

They will walk and not become weary.

11 For I know the plans that I *have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for *prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

25 Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. 26 Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put My Spirit within you and bring it about that you walk in My statutes, and are careful and *follow My ordinances.

14 In addition to all these things put on love, which is *the perfect bond of unity. 15 Let the peace of Christ, to which you were *indeed called in one body, *rule in your hearts; and *be thankful.

God Set Eternity in the Heart of Mankind

11 He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, without the possibility that mankind will find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end.

10 For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness. 11 For the moment, all discipline seems not to be pleasant, but painful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.

13 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit." 14 *Yet you do not know *what your life will be like tomorrow. For you are just a vapor that appears for a little while, and then vanishes away. 15 *Instead, you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that." 16 But as it is, you boast in your *arrogance; all such boasting is evil. 17 So for one who knows the*right thing to do and does not do it, for him it is sin.
