14 Turn from evil and do good.

Seek peace and pursue it.

3 Trust Yahweh and do good.

Abide in the land and feed on faithfulness.*

13 Surely* I believe that I will see the goodness of Yahweh

in the land of the living.

6 Remember your compassion, O Yahweh,

and your acts of loyal love,

because they are from of old.

7 Do not remember

the sins of my youth or my transgressions.

According to your loyal love remember me if you will,

for the sake of your goodness, O Yahweh.

17 Yahweh is righteous in all his ways,

and loyal in all his works.

9 Then you will understand righteousness and justice

and uprightness—every good course—

22 The craving of a man is his steadfast loyalty,

and it is better to be poor than a liar.*

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self control. Against such things there is no law.

10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who belong to the household of faith.

29 No rotten word must proceed* from your mouth, but only something good for the building up of the need, in order that it may give grace to those who hear,

32 Become* kind toward one another, compassionate, forgiving one another, just as also God in Christ has forgiven you.

Living in Love

9 Love must be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; be attached to what is good,

21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Freedom in Christ

23 All things are permitted, but not all things are profitable. All things are permitted, but not all things build up.

33 Do not be deceived! "Bad company corrupts good morals."*

8 And God is able to cause all grace to abound to you, so that in everything at all times, because you* have enough of everything, you may overflow in every good work.

Instructions for Women

9 Likewise also the women should adorn themselves in appropriate clothing, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold jewelry or pearls or expensive clothing, 10 but with good deeds which are fitting for women who profess godliness.

14 who gave himself for us, in order that he might redeem us from all lawlessness and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good deeds.

Suffer for Doing What is Good

13 And who is the one who will harm you if you are a zealous adherent for what is good?

16 Thus says Yahweh: "Stand at the roads and look,

But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’*

7 Yahweh is good—a refuge in the day of distress;

he knows those who take refuge in him.

15 nor do they light a lamp and place it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it shines on all those in the house. 16 In the same way let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful!*
