20 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture *becomes a matter of *someone’s own interpretation, 21 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a worker who *does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.

2 preach the word; be ready *in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and*exhort, with *great patience and instruction.

13 Until I come, give your attention to the public*reading, to exhortation, and teaching.

12 For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to *judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

And this is the word which was *preached to you.

9 How can a young man keep his way pure?

By keeping it according to Your word.

And *freedom to prisoners;

2 To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord

And the day of vengeance of our God;

To comfort all who mourn,

3 To grant those who mourn in Zion,

Giving them a garland instead of ashes,

The oil of gladness instead of mourning,

The cloak of praise instead of a disheartened spirit.

So they will be called *oaks of righteousness,

The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

5 Every word of God is *pure;

He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.

6 Do not add to His words

Or He will rebuke you, and you will be proved a liar.

18 I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and *from the holy city, which are written in this book.

6 I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you *by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel, 7 which is not just another account; but there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be *accursed! 9 As we have said before, even now I say again: if anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be *accursed!

15 and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, 16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which there are some things that are hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.

4 For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

14 How then are they to call on Him in whom they have not believed? How are they to believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher? 15 But how are they to preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who*bring good news of good things!"

16 However, they did not all heed the *good news; for Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our report?" 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word *of Christ.

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed *from faith to faith; as it is written: "*But the righteous one will live by faith."

12 Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God. 13 We also speak these things, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, *combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.

14 But *a natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God *was pleased through the foolishness of the *message preached to save those who believe.

22 For indeed Jews ask for *signs and Greeks search for wisdom; 23 but we preach *Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles foolishness, 24 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with *cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made of no effect.

9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people forGod’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
