33 I have told you this, so that you might have peace in your hearts because of me. While you are in the world, you will have to suffer. But cheer up! I have defeated the world.*

9 I’ve commanded you to be strong and brave. Don’t ever be afraid or discouraged! I am the Lord your God, and I will be there to help you wherever you go.

25 and Joshua continued, "Don’t ever be afraid or discouraged. Be brave and strong. This is what the Lord will do to all your enemies."

10 Don’t be afraid. I am with you.

Don’t tremble with fear.

I am your God.

I will make you strong,

as I protect you with my arm

and give you victories.

7 God’s Spirit* doesn’t make cowards out of us. The Spirit gives us power, love, and self-control.

13 Christ gives me the strength to face anything.

24 All who trust the Lord,

be cheerful and strong.

3 When I asked for your help,

you answered my prayer

and gave me courage.*

1 You, Lord, are the light

that keeps me safe.

I am not afraid of anyone.

You protect me,

and I have no fears.

27 At once, Jesus said to them, "Don’t worry! I am Jesus. Don’t be afraid."

50 All of them saw him and were terrified. But at this same time he said, "Don’t worry! I am Jesus. Don’t be afraid."

48 Jesus said to the woman, "You are now well because of your faith. May God give you peace!"

6 So always be cheerful!

As long as we are in these bodies, we are away from the Lord.

10 Then on the twenty-third day of the seventh month,* Solomon sent everyone home. They left very happy because of all the good things the Lord had done for David and Solomon, and for his people Israel.

7 Be brave and confident! There’s no reason to be afraid of King Sennacherib and his powerful army. We are much more powerful,

10 Don’t give up and be helpless

in times of trouble.

25 Cheer up! I am sure that God will do exactly what he promised.

6 God is the one who began this good work in you, and I am certain that he won’t stop before it is complete on the day that Christ Jesus returns.

6 On that day you will be glad, even if you have to go through many hard trials for a while.

39 The Lord protects his people,

and they can come to him

in times of trouble.

11 I want to see you and share with you the same blessings that God’s Spirit has given me. Then you will grow stronger in your faith. 12 What I am saying is that we can encourage each other by the faith that is ours.

16 We never give up. Our bodies are gradually dying, but we ourselves are being made stronger each day.

11 This is why you must encourage and help each other, just as you are already doing.

7 My friends, even though we have a lot of trouble and suffering, your faith makes us feel better about you.

16 The people answered:

We could never worship other gods or stop worshiping the Lord. 17 The Lord is our God. We were slaves in Egypt as our ancestors had been, but we saw the Lord work miracles to set our people free and to bring us out of Egypt. Even though other nations were all around us, the Lord protected us wherever we went.

11 I will bless you with a future filled with hope—a future of success, not of suffering.
