For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand [anywhere else];

I would rather stand [as a doorkeeper] at the threshold of the house of my God

Than to live [at ease] in the tents of wickedness.

One thing I have asked of the Lord, and that I will seek:

That I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life,

To gaze upon the beauty [the delightful loveliness and majestic grandeur] of the Lord

And to meditate in His temple. [Ps 16:11; 18:6; 65:4; Luke 2:37]

Blessed is the one whom You choose and bring near

To dwell in Your courts.

We will be filled with the goodness of Your house,

Your holy temple.

Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem.
A Song of #122:0 See Psalm 120 title note.Ascents. Of David.

I was glad when they said to me,

"Let us go to the house of the Lord." [Is 2:3; Zech 8:21]

Surely goodness and mercy and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life,

And I shall dwell forever [throughout all my days] in the house and in the presence of the Lord.

But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in the house of God;

I trust [confidently] in the lovingkindness of God forever and ever.

For zeal for Your house has consumed me,

And the [mocking] insults of those who insult You have fallen on me. [John 2:17; Rom 15:3]

O templo

Minha casa será chamada casa de oração. O zelo da tua casa me consumiu. O verdadeiro templo é o corpo do cristão.

Cleansing the Temple

And Jesus entered the temple [grounds] and drove out [with force] all who were buying and selling [birds and animals for sacrifice] in the temple area, and He turned over the tables of the moneychangers [who made a profit exchanging foreign money for temple coinage] and the chairs of those who were selling doves [for sacrifice]. [Mark 11:15-18; Luke 19:45-47; John 2:14-16] Jesus said to them, "It is written [in Scripture], My house shall be called a house of prayer; but you are making it a robbersden." [Is 56:7; Jer 7:11]

First PassoverCleansing the Temple

Now the Passover of the Jews was approaching, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem. And in the temple [enclosure] He found the people who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting at their tables. [Matt 21:12ff; Mark 11:15, 17] He made a whip of cords, and drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen; and He scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables; then to those who sold the doves He said, "Take these things away! Stop making My Father’s house a place of commerce!" [Ps 93:5] His disciples remembered that it is written [in the Scriptures], "Zeal (love, concern) for Your house [and its honor] will consume Me." [Ps 69:9]

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have [received as a gift] from God, and that you are not your own [property]?

in case I am delayed, so that you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.

but Christ is faithful as a Son over His [Father’s] house. And we are His house if we hold fast our confidence and sense of triumph in our hope [in Christ].

"Our fathers had the tabernacle of testimony in the wilderness, just as God directed Moses to make it according to the pattern which he had seen. [Ex 25:9-40] Our fathers also brought it in [with them into the land] with Joshua when they dispossessed the nations whom God drove out before our fathers, [and so it remained here] until the time of David, [Deut 32:49; Josh 3:14-17] who found favor (grace, spiritual blessing) in the sight of God and asked that he might [be allowed to] find a dwelling place for the God of Jacob. [2 Sam 7:8-16; Ps 132:1-5] But it was Solomon who built a house for Him. [1 Kin 6] However, the Most High [the One infinitely exalted above humanity] does not dwell in houses made by human hands; as the prophet [Isaiah] says, [1 Kin 8:27]

Heaven is My throne,

And the earth is the footstool for My feet;

What kind of house will you build for Me?says the Lord,

Or what place is there for My rest?

Was it not My hand that made all these things?[Is 66:1, 2]

Heaven Is God’s Throne

This is what the Lord says,

"Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool.

Where, then, is a house that you could build for Me?

And where will My resting place be? [Acts 17:24]

"For all these things My hand has made,

So all these things came into being [by and for Me]," declares the Lord.

"But to this one I will look [graciously],

To him who is humble and contrite in spirit, and who [reverently] trembles at My word and honors My commands. [John 4:24]

Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and he said, "Without any doubt the Lord is in this place, and I did not realize it." So he was afraid and said, "How fearful and awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gateway to heaven."
