10 Better a day in your courts

than a thousand anywhere else.

I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God

than live in the tents of wicked people.  *

4 I have asked one thing from the  Lord;

it is what I desire:

to dwell in the house of the  Lord

all the days of my life,  *

gazing on the beauty of the  Lord*

and seeking him in his temple.  *

4 How happy is the one you choose

and bring near to live in your courts!

We will be satisfied with the goodness of your house,  *

the holiness of your temple.  *,*

1 I rejoiced with those who said to me,

"Let’s go to the house of the  Lord."  *

6 Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me

all the days of my life,  *

and I will dwell in  *  the house of the  Lord

as long as I live.  *,*

8 But I am like a flourishing olive tree

in the house of God;  *

I trust in God’s faithful love forever and ever.  *

9 because zeal for your house has consumed me,  *

and the insults of those who insult you

have fallen on me.  *

12 Jesus went into the temple  *,* and threw out all those buying and selling. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those selling doves.  *13 He said to them, "It is written, my house will be called a house of prayer,*but you are making it a den of thieves! "*,*

13 The Jewish Passover  * was near, and so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.  *14 In the temple  * he found people selling oxen, sheep, and doves, and he also found the money changers sitting there. 15 After making a whip out of cords,  * he drove everyone out of the temple with their sheep  * and oxen. He also poured out the money changers’ coins and overturned the tables. 16 He told those who were selling doves, "Get these things out of here! Stop turning my Father’s*house*into a marketplace! "*,*

17 And his disciples remembered that it is written: Zeal*for your house will consume*me.*,*

19 Don’t you know that your body is a temple  * of the Holy Spirit  * who is in you,  * whom you have from God? You are not your own,

15 But if I should be delayed, I have written so that you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household,  * which is the church of the living God,  * the pillar and foundation of the truth.  *

6 But Christ was faithful as a Son over his household. And we are that household if we hold on to our confidence and the hope in which we boast.  *,*

44 "Our ancestors had the tabernacle of the testimony in the wilderness, just as he who spoke to Moses commanded him to make it according to the pattern he had seen.  *45 Our ancestors in turn received it and with Joshua brought it in when they dispossessed the nations that God drove out before them,  * until the days of David. 46 He found favor in God’s sight and asked that he might provide a dwelling place for the God  * of Jacob.  *47 It was Solomon, rather, who built him a house,  *48 but the Most High does not dwell in sanctuaries made with hands, as the prophet says:  *

49 Heaven is my throne,

and the earth my footstool.

What sort of house will you build for me?

says the Lord,

or what will be my resting place?

50 Did not my hand make all these things?*,*

1 This is what the Lord says:

Heaven  * is my throne,  *

and earth is my footstool.  *

Where could you possibly build a house for me?

And where would my resting place be?  *

2 My hand made all these things,

and so they all came into being.

This is the  Lord’s declaration.

I will look favorably on this kind of person:

one who is humble,  * submissive  *  in spirit,  *

and trembles at my word.

16 When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he said, "Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it."  *17 He was afraid and said, "What an awesome place this is! This is none other than the house of God. This is the gate of heaven."
