10 For a day *in your courts is better

than a thousand elsewhere.

I would rather be *a doorkeeper in the house of my God

than dwell in the tents of wickedness.

4 *One thing have I asked of the Lord,

that will I seek after:

that I may *dwell in the house of the Lord

all the days of my life,

to gaze upon *the beauty of the Lord

and to inquire* in his temple.

4 *Blessed is the one you choose and bring near,

to *dwell in your courts!

We shall be *satisfied with the goodness of your house,

the holiness of your temple!

1 I was glad when they said to me,

*"Let us go to the house of the Lord!"

6 Surely* goodness and mercy* shall follow me

all the days of my life,

and I shall *dwell* in the house of the Lord

*forever.*

8 But I am like *a green olive tree

in the house of God.

I trust in the steadfast love of God

forever and ever.

9 For *zeal for your house has consumed me,

and *the reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me.

12 *And Jesus entered the temple* and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of *the money-changers and the seats of those who sold *pigeons. 13 He said to them, "It is written, *‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but *you make it a den of robbers."

13 *The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus *went up to Jerusalem. 14 *In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. 15 And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. 16 And he told those who sold the pigeons, "Take these things away; do not make *my Father’s house a house of trade."17 His disciples remembered that it was written, *"Zeal for your house will consume me."

19 Or *do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? *You are not your own,

15 if I delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth.

6 but Christ is faithful over God’s house as *a son. And *we are his house, if indeed we *hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.*

44 "Our fathers had *the tent of witness in the wilderness, just as he who spoke to Moses *directed him to make it, according to the pattern that he had seen. 45 Our fathers in turn *brought it in with Joshua when they *dispossessed the nations *that God drove out before our fathers. So it was *until the days of David, 46 *who found favor in the sight of God and *asked to find a dwelling place for *the God of Jacob.*47 But it was *Solomon who built a house for him. 48 *Yet the Most High does not dwell *in houses made by hands, as the prophet says,

49 *"‘Heaven is my throne,

*and the earth is my footstool.

What kind of house will you build for me, says the Lord,

or what is the place of my rest?

50 Did not my hand make all these things?’

1 *Thus says the Lord:

*"Heaven is my throne,

and the earth is my footstool;

what is the house that you would build for me,

and what is the place of my rest?

2 *All these things my hand has made,

and so all these things came to be,

declares the Lord.

*But this is the one to whom I will look:

he who is humble and contrite in spirit

and trembles at my word.

16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, "Surely the Lord is *in this place, and I did not know it." 17 And he was afraid and said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven."
