10 For better is one day in Your courts

than a thousand elsewhere.

I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God

than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

4 One thing I have asked of the LORD;

this is what I desire:

to dwell in the house of the LORD

all the days of my life,

to gaze on the beauty of the LORD

and seek Him in His temple.

4 Blessed is the one You choose

and bring near to dwell in Your courts!

We are filled with the goodness of Your house,

the holiness of Your temple.

Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem

1 A song of ascents. Of David.

I was glad when they said to me,

"Let us go to the house of the LORD."

6 Surely goodness and mercy will follow me

all the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of the LORD

forever.*

8 But I am like an olive tree

flourishing in the house of God;

I trust in the loving devotion of God

forever and ever.

9 because zeal for Your house has consumed me,*

and the insults of those who insult You have fallen on me.*

Jesus Cleanses the Temple

12 Then Jesus entered the temple courts* and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves. 13 And He declared to them, "It is written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer.’*Isaiah 56:7 But you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’*"

13 When the Jewish Passover was near, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 In the temple courts* He found men selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and money changers seated at their tables. 15 So He made a whip out of cords and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle. He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. 16 To those selling doves He said, "Get these out of here! How dare you turn My Father’s house into a marketplace!"

17 His disciples remembered that it is written: "Zeal for Your house will consume Me."*

19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;

15 in case I am delayed, so that you will know how each one must conduct himself in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.

6 But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are His house, if we hold firmly* to our confidence and the hope of which we boast.

The Tabernacle of the Testimony

44 Our fathers had the tabernacle of the Testimony with them in the wilderness. It was constructed exactly as God had directed Moses, according to the pattern he had seen. 45 And our fathers who received it brought it in with Joshua when they dispossessed the nations God drove out before them. It remained until the time of David, 46 who found favor in the sight of God and asked to provide a dwelling place for the God of Jacob.* 47 But it was Solomon who built the house for Him.

48 However, the Most High does not dwell in houses made by human hands. As the prophet says:

49 ‘Heaven is My throne

and the earth is My footstool.

What kind of house will you build for Me, says the Lord,

or where will My place of repose be?

50 Has not My hand made all these things?’*

Heaven Is My Throne

1 This is what the LORD says:

"Heaven is My throne,

and earth is My footstool.

What kind of house will you build for Me?

Or where will My place of repose be?

2 Has not My hand made all these things?*

And so they came into being,"

declares the LORD.

"This is the one I will esteem:

he who is humble and contrite in spirit,

who trembles at My word.

16 When Jacob woke up, he said, "Surely the LORD is in this place, and I was unaware of it." 17 And he was afraid and said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven!"
