O casamento é aliança sagrada instituída por Deus. Ele une marido e mulher em uma só carne — pacto de amor, fidelidade e companheirismo que reflete o amor de Cristo pela Igreja.
Fundamento divino
Não é bom que o homem esteja só. Deus criou o casamento como aliança de companheirismo, amor e fecundidade.

It does not act disgracefully, it does not seek its own benefit; it is not provoked, does not keep an account of a wrong suffered,it does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; it keeps every confidence, it believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
