The Heavens Declare the Glory of God

1 For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.

The heavens declare the glory of God;

the skies proclaim the work of His hands.

2 Day after day they pour forth speech;

night after night they reveal knowledge.

5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;

may Your glory cover all the earth.

8 Our help is in the name of the LORD,

the Maker of heaven and earth.

25 Whom have I in heaven but You?

And on earth I desire no one besides You.

The Creation

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

2 Now the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

6 He builds His upper rooms in the heavens

and founds His vault upon the earth.

He summons the waters of the sea

and pours them over the face of the earth.

The LORD is His name.

24 "Can a man hide in secret places where I cannot see him?" declares the LORD.

"Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?" declares the LORD.

17 "Oh, Lord GOD! You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too difficult for You!

20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,

Treasures in Heaven

19 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust*Or worm; also in verse 20 destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

14 But Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them! For the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

21 Jesus told him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me."

35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.

2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will be the first to rise. 17 After that, we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord.

2 Beloved, we are now children of God, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when Christ appears,* we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as Christ is pure.*

18 And the Lord will rescue me from every evil action and bring me safely into His heavenly kingdom. To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

The Ascension

50 When Jesus had led them out as far as Bethany, He lifted up His hands and blessed them. 51 While He was blessing them, He left them and was carried up into heaven.

9 After He had said this, they watched as He was taken up, and a cloud hid Him from their sight.

12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

7 For we brought nothing into the world, so* we cannot carry anything out of it. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these.

9 "For as the heavens are higher than the earth,

so My ways are higher than your ways

and My thoughts than your thoughts.

To Everything There Is a Season

1 To everything there is a season,

and a time for every purpose under heaven:

15 As a man came from his mother’s womb, so he will depart again, naked as he arrived. He takes nothing for his labor to carry in his hands.
