O que é a chamada de Deus
A chamada de Deus é a iniciativa soberana pela qual o Criador convida uma pessoa para a salvação e para uma vida de propósito com ele. Na Bíblia, essa vocação não se baseia em méritos, talentos ou qualidades humanas, mas inteiramente na graça e na vontade divina.
Deus toma a iniciativa quando o ser humano ainda está longe e sem condições de buscá-lo por si mesmo:
who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was granted to us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,(2 Timothy 1:9)
You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.(John 15:16)
"I permitted Myself to be sought by those who did not ask for Me;
I permitted Myself to be found by those who did not seek Me.
I said, ‘Here am I, here am I,’
To a nation which did not call on My name.(Isaiah 65:1)
and the insignificant things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no human may boast before God.(1 Corinthians 1:28,29)
Para que Deus nos chama
O chamado divino não é um convite à inércia. As Escrituras mostram que Deus retira a pessoa de uma vida sem rumo e a estabelece em comunhão com Cristo, exigindo uma transformação completa de atitudes no cotidiano:
God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.(1 Corinthians 1:9)
but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written: "You shall be holy, for I am holy."(1 Peter 1:15,16)
For you have been called for this purpose, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you would follow in His steps,(1 Peter 2:21)
not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you would inherit a blessing.(1 Peter 3:9)
There is one body and one Spirit, just as you also were called in one hope of your calling;(Ephesians 4:4)
A fidelidade e a certeza da chamada
A resposta ao chamado do evangelho exige arrependimento e fé, mas a garantia de perseverança não repousa na força humana. Quem chama é fiel para sustentar, dirigir os acontecimentos para o bem e conduzir cada passo até o alvo final:
Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.(Acts 2:38)
It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.(2 Thessalonians 2:14)
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.(Romans 8:28)
Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will do it.(1 Thessalonians 5:24)
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.(Philippians 3:14)
