16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, in order that he may be with you forever*—

18 "I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you.

26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name—that one will teach you all things, and will remind you of everything that I said to you.

26 "When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father—that one will testify about me.

7 But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go away. For if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

Thanksgiving for God’s Compassion and Comfort

3 Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in all affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

5 For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, thus through Christ our comfort overflows also.

5 Now may the God of patient endurance and of encouragement grant you to be in agreement* with one another, in accordance with Christ Jesus,

19 When my troubled thoughts were many within me,*

your consolations cheered my soul.

5 Out of my distress I called to Yah.*

Yah answered me, setting me in a broad place.

16 They will not be hungry any longer or be thirsty any longer,

nor will the sun ever beat down on them, nor any heat,*

17 because the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them

and will lead them to springs of living waters,

and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."*

12 "I, I am he who comforts you;

who are you that* you are afraid of man? He dies!

And of the son of humankind? He is sacrificed* as grass!

4 Blessed are the ones who mourn,

because they will be comforted.
