An analogy from the body
Now just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of that one body, though being many, are one body, so also is the Christ.
Functions in the Church
Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Not ever!
There is one body and one Spirit (just as you also were called in one hope of your calling),
from whom the whole body, being fitted and knit together by what every joint supplies, as each individual part does its work, promotes its own growth, its own edification, in love.
Cristo, a cabeça
After all, no one ever hated his own flesh; rather he nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the Church —for we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.
