One Body with Many Parts
Christ is like a single body, which has many parts; it is still one body, even though it is made up of different parts.
All of you are Christ’s body, and each one is a part of it.
You know that your bodies are parts of the body of Christ. Shall I take a part of Christ’s body and make it part of the body of a prostitute? Impossible!
We have many parts in the one body, and all these parts have different functions. In the same way, though we are many, we are one body in union with Christ, and we are all joined to each other as different parts of one body.
There is one body and one Spirit, just as there is one hope to which God has called you.
Under his control all the different parts of the body fit together, and the whole body is held together by every joint with which it is provided. So when each separate part works as it should, the whole body grows and builds itself up through love.
Cristo, a cabeça
Ele é a cabeça do corpo, que é a igreja. O corpo cresce e se edifica em amor quando cada parte faz o seu trabalho.
He is the head of his body, the church; he is the source of the body’s life. He is the first-born Son, who was raised from death, in order that he alone might have the first place in all things.
Paul’s Work as a Servant of the Church
And now I am happy about my sufferings for you, for by means of my physical sufferings I am helping to complete what still remains of Christ’s sufferings on behalf of his body, the church.
The peace that Christ gives is to guide you in the decisions you make; for it is to this peace that God has called you together in the one body. And be thankful.
None of us ever hate our own bodies. Instead, we feed them, and take care of them, just as Christ does the church; for we are members of his body.)
