The Creation

1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth— 2 Now* the earth was formless and empty, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

26 And God said, "Let us make humankind in* our image and according to* our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of heaven,* and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every moving thing that moves upon the earth."

27 So* God created humankind in* his image, in* the likeness of God he created him,* male and female he created them.

3 And God blessed the seventh day, and he sanctified* it, because on it he rested from all his work of creating that there was to do.*

18 Then* Yahweh God said, "it is not good that the man* is alone. I will make for him a helper as his counterpart."*

6 By the word of Yahweh the heavens were made,

and by the breath of his mouth all their host.

2 Before the mountains were born

and you brought forth the earth and the world,

even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God.

6 Come in, let us worship and bow down;

let us kneel before Yahweh, our maker.

Trust in God’s Protection

1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains;

whence will my help come?

2 My help is from Yahweh,

maker of heaven and earth.

8 Our help is in the name of Yahweh,

maker of heaven and earth.

24 This is the day Yahweh has worked;*

let us rejoice and be glad in him.*

13 Indeed you created my inward parts;*

you wove me in my mother’s womb.

14 I praise you, because I am fearfully

and wonderfully made.*

Wonderful are your works,

and my soul knows it well.

28 Have you not known,

or have you not heard?

Yahweh is the God of eternity,

the creator of the ends of the earth!

He is not faint, and he does not grow weary!

There is no searching his understanding.

9 Woe to the one who strives with his maker,*

a potsherd among* potsherds of earth!

Does the clay say to the one who fashions it,

‘What are you making?’

and ‘Your work has no hands’?

17 ‘Ah Lord Yahweh! Look, you made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm. Nothing* is too difficult for you,

6 who builds his upper chambers in the heavens and lays the foundation of his vault on the earth, who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them on the surface of the earth—Yahweh is his name.

36 For from him and through him and to him are all things.

To him be glory for eternity! Amen.

20 For from the creation of the world, his invisible attributes, both his eternal power and deity, are discerned clearly, being understood in the things created, so that they are without excuse.

19 For the eagerly expecting creation awaits eagerly the revelation of the sons of God.

17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come.

10 For we are his creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, so that we may walk in them.

18 By his* will he gave birth to us through the message of truth, so that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

4 For every house is built by someone, but the one who built all things is God.

28 for in him we live and move and exist,* as even some of your own* poets have said: ‘For we also are his* offspring.’*

13 And I heard every creature that is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and in the sea and everything in them saying,

"To the one who is seated on the throne and to the Lamb

be praise and honor and glory and power*

forever and ever*."
