Dar
Each one must do just as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
And God is able to make all grace overflow to you, so that, always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed;
Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness;
you will be enriched in everything for all liberality, which through us is producing thanksgiving to God.
For if the willingness is present, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.
Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return."
Princípios de generosidade
Honra ao Senhor com as tuas primícias. Não negues o bem a quem o merece. A alma generosa prosperará.
Honor the Lord from your wealth,
And from the first of all your produce;
Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
When it is in your power to do it.
A generous person will be prosperous,
And one who gives others plenty of water will himself be given plenty.
A person’s gift makes room for him
And brings him before great people.
All day long he is craving,
While the righteous gives and does not hold back.
Open your mouth, judge righteously,
And defend the rights of the poor and needy.
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and put Me to the test now in this," says the Lord of armies, "if I do not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.
O ensino de Jesus
Quando deres esmola, não toque a trombeta. A generosidade do coração importa mais que a grandeza do donativo.
"So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, so that they will be praised by people. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.
But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,so that your charitable giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those with leprosy, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.
Jesus said to him, "If you want to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."
Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back.
Delight yourself in the Lord;
And He will give you the desires of your heart.
The wicked borrows and does not pay back,
But the righteous is gracious and gives.
"But who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given to You.
Then he said to them, "Go, eat the festival foods, drink the sweet drinks, and send portions to him who has nothing prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your refuge."
And if I give away all my possessions to charity, and if I surrender my body so that I may glory, but do not have love, it does me no good.
